964s for sale

ORIGINAL: Steve Brookes For anyone looking for a 964, this one could be worth a look: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3090357.htm Not sure from the ad if it's a C2 or C4?
I love claims like these in adverts "Engine & Gearbox Rebuilt in 2001 (output circa 290/300bhp have never had it dyno'd as I am not really that bothered but suffice to say it is a lot quicker than a regular 964..." [:D] Ian.

ORIGINAL: Steve Brookes What don't you like about it Colin?
Oh blimey, its not a mate of your's is it? [&:] I don't know, he doesn't really sound like an enthusiast, its just a toy to be discarded. Alright alot of our cars are toys, but that doesn't mean we don't lavish care upon them. It sounds like it might be quite rusty or at least need a complete paint refresh. The claim about power output is frankly laughable, mine feels pretty fast too, also it was rebuilt in 2001, that's 10 years ago, or maybe its a misprint? He's going to get it serviced at his local indie, who is that? Joe's back street garage? I also think its about £4-5K over the top. I get the impression, from the thick service file, that previous owners have lavished care upon it, but I don't think he has and it might cost quite a lot to get it back on track. I like the colour though...[;)] Maybe its just the cynic in me...[8|]

No, I have no knowledge of the car or owner...so you're not saying anything out of turn [:D]. I was just interested to hear your thoughts...so thanks for that [:)] I agree that it's a strange way to write an ad. I think ads for cars need to be more factual and descriptive where appropriate. Subjective doesn't work well especially where claims can't be substantiated. However, reading between the lines, I'd say that the mileage, some documented engine work, new clutch/flywheel, brake upgrade and the PSS9 suspension, would make it fairly priced (assuming a bit of negotiation built in). But maybe £2K less if it turns out to be a C4. [:D]

I'm sure that's Adam's old car who was local to me. If it is then maybe not one for the newbie on a budget! The new owner would have only had it for about a year.
