That one does look nice yes, but I was refering to the a couple of Turbo's for the guy who was in the market for one. I have variable success posting links on IE8, sometimes it works & sometimes it doesn't. I have never, so far, has any problem with Google Chrome, which I use at home.

Have to ask... anyone know about the Targa Florio car? It doesn't seem like bad money but it has been with them a long time whick makes me wonder. It is without a rebuild and at 80k miles... is this what is putting people off?

It's relatively high miles for 964T and has been messed about with a little when you look at the pics - non original wheels, steering wheel has been replaced, brake ducts added (probably dummies), changes to interior trim (e.g. piping on the door pockets), standard seats rather than sports seats and the spoiler looks odd (it's all painted the same as the body colour rather than being black round the tray). I don't claim to be an expert but originality seems to be very important to those buying a 964T hence why it might have a low appeal. p.s. Find a good one and they are bloomin' marvellous. I was lucky enough to have a ride in Sifly's 964 3.3T on a run through Wales......they don't 'arf shift! [:D]

Thanks for the reply, Steve. I had noticed the things you said and it had put me off. I can understand someone doing some retrimming but it is not left looking 'authentic' - it looks like plenty of money was spent but I think that will end up detracting people in the future. They do seem keen to do business but I get the feeling that it is best left alone at that pricing. £5k less and you would probably return it close to original, but I don't see it being a whole lot less. On a related note... there do not seem to be many cars about at the moment yet I do read, from older posts, talk of there being half a dozen or ten being about at the same time. Is this a slow time to be looking?

964s appear to have had a surge in interest over the recent couple of years. Turbos in particular are being seen as a good investment both in terms of monetary value and being the last of the iconic single turbo beasts, for the purity of the drive. As you've probably seen there are rarely more than 40 or 50 964s for sale on Pistonheads at any one time (including all variants). 964RS prices have gone ballistic over the last 3 years (from sub £40K to £60K plus). Patience is a required virtue when looking for a 964 these days but when the right one comes up you have to move fast. The day of the unloved bargain 964 that could be bought for as little as £10K is now gone and prices seem to moving ever upwards. So much so that we don't mind putting money into our cars because we know that it is adding to their value.

My 964 turbo 3.3 is for sale. Much as I'd like to hang on to it, economics dictate that I can't keep both that and a 930! An extremely attractive example in special order Cobalt Blue with Cobalt / Dark Grey leather interior, registered 1 January 1993. This 911 has a full service history (main dealer and specialist) which includes a top end engine rebuild and piston rings in 2003, at 107658 miles. At the same time, the opportunity was taken to replace the clutch and dual mass flywheel. The current mileage is 118400 miles, with service records, bills and MoTs to detail and verify, and it has just been serviced (12/2010) at Autofarm. This is a really good, unmodified example of this sought after model. It's not perfect, but absolutely looks the part and drives superbly - effortless performance from that 3.3 engine, a slick 5 speed gearbox and a Limited Slip Differential getting the power down to the road via correct 17" Cup 1 wheels and tyres, along with a superb set of brakes to keep it in rein when required. £POA

A sad parting this morning. My 964 was driven away by Phil Raby to Greenford, where she is destined to be exported to a buyer in Japan. My other half had driven me to the facility where the car had spent the winter months, which was just as well, because I was so upset I cried like a baby all the way back home [:(] My plan now is to find a 964 coupe, either a Carrera 2 (or 4) as a good working car. ie. i will sell the Boxster as well and just drive a 964. The max I can stretch to is £15,000 cash, plus I have the Boxster, which I would be willing to p/ex as well if the right car could be found through one of the reputable Porsche specialists. If anyone knows of a 964 that might be suitable, or hears of anything coming up for sale, please let me know.

Congratulations on the sale Amanda (although that might not be the right thing to say at this time) and good luck in finding a replacement [:)].

First of all hi :) I`ve only just started looking at getting a 964 or 993 so have a lot to learn. This ones looks nice but a couple of things confused me, 1) Could you really get a full engine rebuilt for £3,600 or would just just be for what people call top end rebuild. 2) why would the car need an engine rebuild at 70k miles when its had regular use every year. Most of the ones I see advertised have had recent rebuilds but thats seems down to the fact that these cars are 20 years old and or maybe haven`t had a lot of regular use. Anyway any advise appreciated.

If the car has done fewer miles then it is likely to be used as weekend car only. Or in other words, stored, then driven (sometimes and i'd say most times, hard) and then stored away again. This kind of use will always encourage faster wear of components. My best bit of advice and probably that of many others is that of buy on condition and not on mileage or age. I bought a car that had done 17k in 11 years and required a fair amount of tlc to get her to up to a decent standard. Lesson learnt from me there! I have done nearly 10k since I bought mine and she is better for constant use. Every day, I know I can rely on her to start and get me to where I'm going without so much as a wee cough! She will start first time every time and drives better than the day I bought her!

That rebuild was done 11 years ago according to the advert. Therefore, yes it's possible the price was for a full rebuild because at the age it was then, it is unlikely that lots of other stuff that contributes to a full rebuild these days, would have been needed. However, it seems strange that it had a rebuild when it was only 10 years old with 61,000 miles on the clock.

Hi, I'm looking for a good condition (relatively) low mileage, late model 964. Must be a RHD manual coupe with sunroof & A/C. Ideally in black on black and accident free. If anyone knows of one, or if you have something similar and are looking to sell, please let me know. Marc

My 964 is for sale [link=http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2757040.htm]http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2757040.htm[/link] Why for sale? Got the track seen bug, looking at a nice 68 CS. For this reason and the fact she deserves in be driven instead of being a garage queen.

Cheap C2 just gone up for sale on PH. Big miles but at less than £11K it could be a good project: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2652659.htm
