I've sold the S2.

I think (FWIW) that you've made a great choice on the M135i. A good friend has one (auto too) and loves it. The next 3 years will be a hoot, enjoy racking up the miles :)

ORIGINAL: Copperman05 I ordered the M135i last week, managed to get 20% off book price which I'm pretty pleased with. Considering whether to sell the S2 now, or wait till I've got the new one, would be nice to have both but cant justify or afford it. Edd
Surely your insurance would come down with it now not being a daily driver, plus you have really kept on top of the maintenance of it. However, common sense and I seldom work ;).

If the budget is tight and you're undecided whether to keep it or sell it, definitely sell. It'll cost money to have sitting around, and unlike a fine claret, it won't improve over the next few years! But if you have the space, and don't mind spending a grand or so a year on insurance, tax and servicing, keep it - as this will be cheaper in the long run than trying to find another in a few years time and getting that up to the standard of the golden bullet.

I pay £150 to insure mine for me and my wife and just tax it for six months and yours is up to scratch so service? Do you need to? Change oil, and belts every four years. My old 944 I never really had it serviced and no problems. And I always missed my 944 when i sold it there is something that just gets under your skin with these cars. It took me about seventeen years to be in a position to buy another other things were always more important. I've had a few of supposedly better cars that to me lacked how the 944 made me feel. Just happy. I hope you love your new car but keep hold if you can just store it until your sure the BMW can hi the spot. That's my 944 story. Greg

Classic insurance should be a good deal less (ie £100 PA) when it isnt a daily driver - is there somewhere that you can park it? Im hesitating before suggesting renting a garage as itll probably cost more than a house should in that London, although I do recall someone mentioning a double in Surrey for about £15 a week, which was brilliant.

Much as I hate to see you leaving the 944 fold, Edd, I say sell it. You've done the 944 thing and you've decided you want something more modern and quicker. So be it. Much as I sometimes wish we could, keeping all our old cars isn't a practical option.

Edd, i can sort you a good deal with a garage up here in Cumbria, gives you the excuse to walk and drive the lakes in your 944. [;)]

Whereabouts in Cumbria are you Frenchy? My family owns an estate just outside Barrow-in-Furness and I need to go up and visit it again this year. Oli.

Oli, the real Cumbria (Cumberland) Barrow is part of Lancashire traditionally, i live in the western lakes. Cumbria is made up of Cumberland, Westmorland, and NW Lancs some political move to bugger about with boundary's (votes) saw it come into being.

Oli, there's really no need to boast about your other vehicles on this site :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:[:D]

ORIGINAL: 944 man I hadnt noticed before, but the estate in brown actually looks like a turd.
I believe that, as a three-door version, it should be referred to as the Allegro Shooting Brake. Much as other conversions of sporting or supercars do. Think the Virage, XJS, right up to the Ferarri FF. [8|]

BMW 1 Series eh, that insurance seems cheap seeings as they are very easy to steal. http://youtu.be/DshK4ZXPU9o IIRC it got mentioned on Top Gear as well.

Yes a worrying video, I do hope BMW have addressed the issue with the F20/21 1 series, although it has to be said, no car is impervious to determined criminals with the correct tools and knowhow. Makes a £50 steering lock look like a worthwhile investment... Edd

Could probably do with a few tweeks but its a start. http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=785424&mpage=1&key=&#785424 Edd
