I've sold the S2.

Not heard any problems with the ZF auto on the M135, you sure it wasn't the 135i? They are quite different cars with different engines and drivetrains. Edd

Yes, I am sure. I had to listen to him moaning about it for months whilst he argued the toss with the dealer and BMW UK. It took several test drives for him to prove his point to them.

Good luck with the sale Edd, whatever you get next, i will bet you will always think back to the S2, if your seats are going separately i may be interested.

I have suggested to Edd that the high altitude and, thin air in his recent Alps tour has affected his thinking!! [:D] Having spoke to him earlier can fully understand his motives, but will be sad to seem him leave the fold (only in ownership) the car as most know is outstanding and well worth the figure in mind, ii wants for nothing and really think he should look at owning a E46 'M' [8D] Someone will gain a very well sorted car that's for sure! Good luck Edd, hope your plans work out mate and don't end up a stranger here or at meets. Catch up with you soon.......on the 'M' side

BMW to come out of Munich since the original E30 M3 or 2002tii...
the tii was the first BMW I was ever in......back in 1975 as a 10 year old [:)] the M135i is a nice modern alternative Edd......that twin turbo straight 6 is a good bit of engineering from what I read. Put the Recaro's from the 944 in it [;)] George 944t

ORIGINAL: Copperman05 I know I wont get the money back, but for me that was never the point, I got it back from driving the thing anywhere and everywhere. Ideally I'd like a 996 GT3 but I don't have the money to buy or run one at the moment. The car I'm getting isn't that far away from the 944, its a hatchback, rear wheel drive, German, 50-50 weight distribution, its a bit more powerful though. M135i is what it is, perhaps the best small BMW to come out of Munich since the original E30 M3 or 2002tti... Edd
nice choice edd,,really hope you enjoy her and i guessed right first lol,,just forgot to add the m,,

Sad to hear this was hoping to see it at some point, but I can understand your change! Stunning car hopefully you will get what you want for it and it goes to someone who will care for it all the same!

Chris Harris was very complimentary about the BMW... Even the auto box. It's a lot of money though and does open up some other interesting cars.. A mate of mine has an e92 m3 - very very quick and an incredible engine. E46 m3 might be even better if you like sixes. Me - I'd be looking at a cayman or a 911 particularly if 4 seats wasn't a requirement. BMW make sports saloons, porsche make sports cars. [:D]

[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xwecTp91-o]Chris Harris likes the car[/link]. The auto appears to be the one to go for, 8 speed and well suited to the S6 its mated to. The M135i is very very close to the E92 M3 in drag times, which makes it all the more impressive as one is a £60k car the other £30k. The new M4 is going to be a very quick car indeed. I also like the wolf in sheeps clothing appearance of the 1er, a proper Q car. Your right its a chunk of moula, but running costs and insurance are going to be cheaper with the m-lite BMW over the others you mention. I have been quoted just £330 full comp on street in London, which seems remarkable imo and cheaper than my classic policy with CL for the 944 by £200. Edd

Crumbs - I thought you had a cracking deal with CL for the 944, but this suggests it was north of £500. For reference, I renewed with a regular (non-classic) broker for my S2 for about £240 last month. Much the same as you; on-street in London, fully comp, 6000 miles a year. Oli.

I did Oli, but once all the mods were declared it pushed it up another £100 or so (mainly the Promax chip I suspect), my policy is unlimited mileage too. Edd

Ah, fair enough. My insurance has come down a LOT in the last year as well, which is probably skewing the results. Ah you going to be buying that M135 new then? Oli.

Yes indeed I am, more a PCP lease from BMW. I had two test drives so far and loved it, another one is lined up for Monday outside London so I can give it some proper beans. Managed to haggle 16% off the book price so far. Edd

edd,,are you getting the coupe or five door?,,helluva lot of power for such a small car and certainly a wolf in sheeps clothing,,are you going to add a quad exhaust at some point? or keep it as standard,,,be waiting to hear what you thought after giving it beans,,good luck edd,,again a very nice choice

3dr coupe is all I need, will try and resist modifying as car may ultimately be handed back to BMW. Quad exhaust? what do you think I am some boy racer? [:D][:D]. I'll keep you posted. Edd

of course not edd lol,,i know its a personal thing but i think they would suit the car imho but then it would give the game away slightly re"wolf in sheeps clothing",,lovely car and a million miles from a boy racer,,,jason
