I'm very well thanks Rob, missing driving the car but as the saying goes " all good things come to those who wait"..
Regarding your rebuild, I note that no one has mentioed the piston grooves, it's important to check that these are not worn if keeping the old pistons when fitting new rings. Also I see that there's a small debate about honing/lapping the bores!..... Well yes you have to be careful when dealing with Alusil and the process for Alusil bores is a little different using different stones and tolerances before final cut. However you do need to hone the bore or it's likely to mean the new rings will not seat properly due to the glaze build up over the 163k miles covered. It doesn't need much and certainly not honing guides, the method mentioned before using scotch pads and paste is about right. If not sure talk to someone like Serdi UK (01895 232215) based in Uxbridge, they certainly know their stuff. Talk to John, Serdi did my block last November, rebored out to 101mm and crank reground for oversize main/rod bearings +0.25mm. They are a very impressive company, dealing with amongst other things F1 engines to ultra fine tolerances. When ready my head will be taken there to have the valves lapped close to F1 standards which are curved instead of angled, gives the best seal possible especially when running high boost. Of course there has to be a slight compromise as these valves need servicing regularly, the answer being to incorporate a slight angle first before the curve.
Oh yes you probably guessed I've been doing a lot of research to obtain the power that I wish for and hopefully this will be the last round of mods,...haha.... Yeh right.......
