Anyone waiting for a GTS Allocation ?

Steve that looks terrific!!! - I noticed you are in South Wales, did you order it from Cardiff OPC? I'm in Cardiff and am still waiting on the allocation...ps I started this thread

***edited - sorry just realised I got the answers mixed up and you're in the South West

Spent a good deal of time behind the wheel of a GTS (2wd) at PEC Silverstone yesterday following my invite from the OPC I have ordered from.

with the instructor I did around 35 miles on the road before heading back and hitting the test tracks and in spite of yesterday’s gloomy weather I was blown away by the car and it’s performance. The White car I drove had rear axle steering and PDCC and had been embellished with the Red contrast stitching, which although not entirely to my taste did look good. The car handles beautifully and is noticeably different (more controlled / settled in and out of corners) than my Carrera S. I can’t say I noticed any discernible speed / acceleration difference which is hardly surprising given my existing car has PDK / Sport Chrono and the differences between the two are fractional.

Handling wise though it’s really got me thinking about the RAS + PDCC combo as I still have a few weeks to finalise my spec. I have to say on the roads especially I found this set up utterly mesmerising as the car stuck like glue, especially when I didn’t expect it to.

For those of you with cars on order and invites to drive the GTS at PEC you will be pleased to learn they do a have a good mix of 2’s and 4’s so you should end up in something close to what you’ve ordered. Besides the cars in the paddock my instructor took me around the compound where we checked off all manner of variants including a Targa 4 GTS, Cabrio 4 GTS and other 2wd flavours (inc manual). The two cars on duty yesterday were :

- RK71 AAF - White Carrera GTS Coupe on the Black Turbo S centre lock wheels

- RO71 XBW - Crayon Carrera 4 GTS Coupe on silver Carrera S wheels

Spotted five more in the compound, will try to update this post with some photos as I took a few.

Have also found online the first "used” GTS in the wild, marked up to a healthy £145k at The Motoring Team:

Interesting, thank you. I test drove a GTS with RWS and I echo your comments. I didn’t spec PDCC in the end as my OPC said it’d be too much on top of RWS, PASM and the standard updated suspension. What did you think of the sports exhaust?

I actually thought the sports exhaust was a fantastic improvement on the [strike]Dyson[/strike] Porsche Sports Exhaust on my Carrera S

it doesn’t sound as good as my 991.1 GTS but it’s a massive upgrade on the 991.2 GTS and my own 992 C2S.

After yesterday I absolutely can’t wait to get the car.

The sports exhaust on the GTS sounds great (agree way better than normal S), think they have finally cracked the sound equation post PF’s.

Collected the car back today, having had PPF to all the front end, mirrors, sills and rear quarter panels plus black shark fin stone guards (Porsche) with ceramic coating to the rest

Had a great afternoon at the Porsche Centre Silverstone this week.
The GTS (I had the black one on the far right) did not disappoint and I'd mirror everything other members have said here. Stepping from my 992 CS the ride is a tiny bit firmer, sports exhaust is MUCH better and the extra power was slightly noticeable. Soft surfaces in the interior help make it feel more sporty and the new PMC has some cool updated features (although still not perfect).

However that feel of extra power may have been because I'm going for a manual! I was worried going from the PDK to a manual box Id never tried (had some terrible ones in some performance cars before) but I really wasn't disappointed with the GTS. Shifting is short, very positive, confident and smooth.
I know manual isn't for everyone but I really missed that extra level of involvement in my last few automatics and I love the reward of getting a corner and the gearing perfect that you just cant replicate with paddles.
I find LC a rare used gimmick, never found myself in a drag race and rarely drive my 911 in built up areas where I'm sat in the clutch. Auto-blip will be fun for when I'm being lazy or learning the car but really looking forward to mastering it again myself.

Now I'm just really excited to get my build allocation which should be soon.

Happy to answer any questions anyone may have or share thoughts about the car I tested.

Nice, how did you obtain that info and picture? Do you have to register somewhere or is it something your dealer provides you?

Gentian looks good, have you gone for the gloss black pack as it looks like you have in the pic?

Thanks.

Hi Schuey

it came up unexpectedly when I logged on to My Porsche. A very nice surprise.

Yes, gloss black pack plus gloss black window surrounds and brake calipers. I’m also getting the rear diffuser painted when it goes in for PPS and ceramic costing.

Best

Nigel

Hi Nigel,

Yes, I can imagine that being a lovely surprise then, a nice touch that. :)

Sure your car is going to look amazing when it arrives with what you have described. Exciting times for you. ????

Hi new member and new to Porsche ownership. Placed my deposit end of November for a C2 GTS. I’m expecting a long wait ahead.

Thanks for the welcome. I think I’m on it daily and I have around 6 different codes saved that I go back and forward with.
