About to put an order in but would like some advice. ITS HERE!!!!!!!!

Well its arrived and I'll be collecting it on Saturday.



I really can't wait. Just finished the myriad of paperwork and plate retention documents needed so less to do when I collect.



I'll have it for a couple of days before it goes to the detailer for PPF and ceramic coating. The temptation to drive it will be too great but I dont want to risk any damage unless I have to.



Maybe I'll just sit in it and pretend to drive it for now. I can't wait to see the curtain twitchers come out en-mass!

 
A long wait but nearly there Dan. Hope the handover goes smoothly tomorrow.

Enjoy the day - picking up a new car is always something to be savoured, especially so in the current circumstances.

Well what a day. A morning at work then off to my OPC. What can I say! Brilliant. One of the best handovers I've ever had. Car was immaculately presented in the handover bay and I'm so happy it came with PS4S' on. PASM is excellent and I'm glad I didn't add PSP. Absolutely not needed. Even got my stack of freebies which was great.

Welcome to Cayman ownership Dan - the car looks great. Good to hear that you enjoyed the handover so now you can get to enjoy driving the car [once the PPF, etc. is completed!].

Update time.

Couple of mods done. Aluminium look fuel filler cap fitter (no issues) and my cheapo coloured key bits fitted and they look ace. Managed to get a PCGB discount on a frunk liner so its all nice and protected from my daughters horse riding boots!

Just dropped the car off at Staffordshire car care for stage 1 polish, PPF and ceramic coating to paint, alloys and calipers plus an interior clean and leather protection all using Gyeon products which I love.

Sadly she's away for 3 days but I'll post some pics up once I collect on friday.

 
A good move getting the protection in place early-on Dan. On what surfaces are you having the PPF applied?

Hi Jeff.

PPF is being fitted to entire front so bumper, bonnet, wings and mirror caps plus rocker panels up to the top of the air intakes and along the inside of the rear wheel arches and the underside of the rear bumper where the sticky PS4s kick up the stones.

The guys at SCC have been brilliant so far. Car was inspected on arrival and the process and products being used thoroughly discussed and any options or special requests being noted. I’ve watched numerous you tube videos on their work and having seen the cars in their studio today I have no doubt it’s going to be spot on. I really can’t wait until Friday when I can enjoy driving home without the fear of those dreaded stone chips.

 
It sounds as though it'll be well-protected Dan. A good call on PPF for the front and rear PUs and the sills in particular as they're always the most vulnerable to flying debris. Mind you, I've always found the best way to protect the front end is to keep your distance from vehicles in front even if you can't avoid stuff thrown up by vehicles passing in both directions.

At least you'll be getting it back for some weekend mileage ... just keep an eye on the rev counter while you're running-in.! [;)]

So yesterday I collected the Cayman from Staffordshire Car Care after 3 days having PPF and ceramic coatings added.

Craig and Greg are very professional and extremely helpful, answering all my questions and were happy for me to go into the intricacies of how the protection and coating were applied.

So, I had the following done:

Bodywork thoroughly cleaned and fall out removed from the exterior ( i was really surprised how much was on there).

Single stage polish to exterior

Gyeon PPF to front bumper, bonnet, wing mirrors, side scuttles and rear wheel arches including under the rear bumper. I had booked in too Expel to be added but Craig suggested the Gyeon PPF as it already has a hydrophobic coating added. It also comes with a 7 year warranty which can be extended to lifetime if maintained by a certified detailer. Craig also doubled up the PPF on high impact areas such as the wheel arches and lower front bumper splitter.

Gyeon Duraflex ceramic coating added giving up to 5 years of ceramic protection

2 coats of Gyeon Rim added to alloys, brake callipers, Wheel hubs and exhaust tips

Gyeon Trim added to all external black plastics and wheel arch liners

Gyeon View added to all exterior glass

Gyeon Leather cleaner and leather guard applied to all interior leather. Interior carpets protected with Gyeon Fabricoat

Tyres dressed with Gyeon tyre dressing.

Sadly I cant wash the car for 10 days to allow the PPF to settle then it needs to go back to SCC for an inspection wash. Any defects in the PPF will be replaced and coatings topped up, all included in the initial cost.

I'm going to be cheeky ask if I can arrange a PCGB discount. Does anyone know if I need to speak to the management before hand?

Excellent job..! That's a very high level of protection Dan, so you're now good to go.

Just out of interest, is the Gyeon Duraflex ceramic coating applied everywhere or just on the body areas which don't have PPF?

From what I can remember its applied everywhere but I'll check when I next go up.

What I do know is that beading in todays rain is bloody amazing!

 
Nice video Dan. Interesting to see that they left the bonnet open for the whole cleaning procedure.

That must be the highest level of protection you can get.!
