About to put an order in but would like some advice. ITS HERE!!!!!!!!

On the 987.2 PASM is in comfort mode as the default, pressing the button puts it into sport mode and firms it up, but, I believe that the car monitors how you’re driving and will automatically firm up the ride if it needs to.

Dan,

What Andrew says is correct. In fact, I believe that the default PASM damper set-up is slightly softer than standard but reacts to your driving style on the day.

The ride height is only 10mm lower than standard and I’ve never encountered any clearance problems on my PASM-equipped 987.2 CS. However mine’s not a daily drive so I’m not encountering the usual town furniture regularly.

The Sport setting on my car is very firm and only suitable for very smooth road surfaces such as those found on tracks, but I believe that it’s much more useable on the 981 and 718-series cars.

Early on in the car’s life I got a PASM fault (it defaulted to Sport mode!) which turned out to be a pinched cable caused presumably during assembly, but there have been no other incidents since, although like all electro-mechanical devices there’s always going to be a possibility of failure. I always switch on Sport mode briefly whenever I’m out for a drive just to ‘exercise’ the system.

Hi,

I drove a PASM 718 cayman on 20's outside Silverstone when I had the experience day, i wanted to see how was the PASM, and in sport mode in that bumpy roads was very very uncomfortable. In normal mode was fine.

I can compare a non PASM 987 with non PASM and the 718 is stiffer (I read it is also stiffer than 981, but i haven't driven one).

Mine is a daily and my spec is very similar in the confort options, they all useful except maybe folding mirrors, I use it to double check from the distance I've locked the car. I didn't spec the climate and sometimes in winter i think its my only regret cause it takes ages for the air to be warm, but that may be an issue in the climate as well.

Sport plus seats are more confortable than the normal ones (Nick Murray was always saying they even have more padding )

Hi everyone.

my 981 GTS is finished in Dark Blue Metallic. You would think in this day and age that Porsche could have come up with a more ‘interesting’ description!! It is very similar to the Night Blue Metallic shown in the images earlier in this thread. Anyway, I love it! It replaced my previous 987.2 which was Carrera White. Classic really and always looked good. However, one of the reasons for buying this particular GTS (used from Ashgood Porsche) was the very high specification and rare colour for the model. I look at ads regularly through interest/boredom and am yet to find another in this colour.

The car looks great on 20” wheels with PASM. I have no issues with speed bumps. Interestingly during my test drive we came across an accident on a dual carriageway. The road was blocked and the police were in attendance. The only option to pass by was to bump up onto the central kerb. (no Armco). I can’t remember the salesman’s name (apologies Ashgood) but he guided me up onto the kerb and I was able to crawl along and get by. I was amazed this was possible and had I been on my own would never have attempted it. Just kept slow and steady.

in conclusion, colour is very personal. PASM is definitely worth having. PSP? To be honest I have not done enough varied driving to give a definitive opinion. No track days yet. For sure though at slow speeds, parking etc. the feel is very good.

Sorry for the long response. These are my particular experiences and opinion. There is a motto.

Drive and enjoy it.

Stay safe everyone

Regards, Brian R17

Hi Brian

I'm also a DBM 981 GTS owner - but mine has had the can opener treatment! It's highly recommended, love the two characters of the car, roof up quiet (well fairly) cosy, and of course the open air with roof down. I bought mine used in 2018 with very low 3.8k miles, also a high spec, hardly any options unticked it was £73k new. Like you love the colour, almost black in poor light but lovely blue sparkle in bright sun. Sorry to the OP for drifting off topic!

Gordon.

Thanks all for your comments. Jeff, you've been most helpful and I thank you.

Car goes into lockdown tomorrow so I've changed to solid white and added PASM which only means an increase of £378 so not a bank buster.

Now is just a waiting game.

Excellent! Well done Dan, and I'm sure that you'll be delighted with the car ... when finally it arrives!

I'm sure I speak for everyone else when I say that we're all pleased to have been able to provide you with the benefit of our Cayman experience.

Update time.

So the car is now built and on its way to Emden to wait for a ferry ride to Blighty. Currently running 6 weeks ahead of schedule.

Some treats for it when it arrives, Zunsport grills, Aluminium look fuel filler cap and I've got some white key trims from the bay of E.

I've been looking at insurance and currently Admiral are cheapest. Strangely if I use the Porsche tracker it only reduces the annual cost by £8 per month so not really worth the £250 subscription.

Fingers crossed I'll be in it first/second week in July.[:D]

That's good news Dan. Clearly parts supply isn't an issue, and Porsche seem to have got production up and running very quickly. According to their Production and Logistics chief interviewed a couple of weeks ago: "We have ramped-up production continuously in the past weeks. And after less than four weeks, now have reached a high level and our regular capacity again. Here and there we are even a little bit better off than we were before production stopped."

Hope the delivery process goes smoothly and that you get the car in time for some summer drives.

So. Car reached CP8 on the 17th June and has been making its way to Emden after an overnight stay is Kornwestheim however, its now sat in a queue waiting to enter Emden.

A chap on another forum who's car was built 2 days before mine, has been told that his is stuck at the holding facility at Ahlhorn and to expect delivery at the back end of July! This is not good. There is apparently a whacking backlog of vehicles at Emden due to Covid so I've no idea when it will arrive. If mine is the same, end of July, I'll have waited 7 months. I've never waited so long for a new car. I'm hoping that mine has jumped the queue and is/was sat on one of the ships that has left or is currently being loaded at Emden heading for Grimsby.

My OPC is going to check the schedule again on Friday so I'll keep you all posted.

I waited 9 months for mine, i think i'm in my right to call it 'my baby'

I hope you can have it soon!

So. The car decided to take a trip to Blighty on the 27th June so hopefully it’s currently sat in the docks at Grimsby waiting to go to my OPC. I’m hoping that delivery will be the back end of next week/ week after but we’ll see how long it takes for the UK transport company to ship it.

Getting excited now 😁

Assume that you mean't June [:)] good news it didn't get held the other side of the waters, the last week wait or so is the longest !

Not long now.
