2020 R10 Rally is now on sale!

Date: Sunday, 28th June Start venue: Dove House Motor Company Price: £35 per Porsche Club members from all Regions are invited to join Region 10 for their third annual road rally for a 77 mile drive through the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside. Dove House motor Company have again kindly offered to host the start of the run and will be providing complimentary tea & coffee ahead of the drivers briefing. Entry into the rally includes a commemorative rally plaque, souvenir roadbook and entry for two into the gardens of a stately home where you can enjoy a Falconry display. Participants are also automatically entered into a friendly “show & shine” competition and can enjoy a Hog Roast or vegetarian alternative upon arrival. Please be aware this is a non-competitive drive and participants must obey all road laws and limits.

All booked, it was a great day last year. I'm going to follow John and Sally again, not because John is a good driver, it's because Sally is a great navigator. It should be another great R10 event. It's February, frosty, cold, I can't wait for sunny June[:)].

What's the actual format of these Rallies? Is it actual driving, route plan, that kind of stuff? mass start or timed? Just trying to get a feel for what this is all about I'm new around here (rookie alert) ...oh and I have entered already. In with both feet and all that.

The first thing to say is that you certainly will enjoy the day. I have done quite a few of these rallies, mostly with classic car clubs but last year was my first go at the R10 rally and it was exceptionally well organised. Definitely up there with the best of them.



The routine is that everyone meets up at Dove house in the morning for coffee, pastries. And a drivers briefing (have a notebook with you). Then you'll be given your route plan, called a 'road book'. This contains your directions and is usually in the form of tulip diagrams and distances. These are symbols that tell you to turn right, left or go straight . For instance it might say, after 0.5 miles turn right, then after 3 miles at the roundabout go straight on, then after 0.75 miles turn left, and so on. It is really easy and good fun. If you go wrong you'll soon know and you just retrace your steps until you’re back on track.



At a designated time, everyone is free to leave when they wish. It is not a race, and on this rally there are no times control points. Just great roads to drive. Just remember, your navigator is always right....even when they are not, especially if they are the other half😉.



The rally ends up somewhere nice for something to eat and a get together. My only criticism is that there are not enough of them . It would be great if every region did one.
