Better to buy a good 964 and get it resprayed if the colour is so important. The chances of the colour matched to well looked after 964 are stacked against you.

Worth holding out though as a colour change will cost 20k and devalue the car.

The 964 looks good in any colour
Bodywork and interior colour combination is important too.

I hear you, but I will probably upgrade the interior which will be cheaper than a a change change. It's not great I want to have what isn't readily available but the car has to be. 964 C2 in a dark colour, preferable black and manual.

Worth holding out a little longer.

Maybe...but as it's an auction it could go for a lot more and then there are auction fees to add I believe? So my guess is that it could cost someone at least £30K if there are a few bidders?

Seems a bargain, but as said it'll fetch more, then add the 12.5% for the buyer premium... Suspect too, despite being a good looker (from the pics anyway), that with 182k miles under its belt it may be prudent to budget for a top end or full engine rebuild some point (nothing in the blurb re having one done already).

Will the bandwagon jumpers want such a high miler ?  I'm hopefully there on the weekend, may make a bid if the price is right, would make a interesting daily for me :)  That said, probably end up back on the continent given the current exchange rate.

Hi Chaps, new to the Forum

I've been browsing the classifieds for a 964 to take me back to my youth ... I had a 991 C4 until recently but just didn't love it enough.
So, I'm hoping to get a well sorted 964 C4 that i can heap love on for years :-)

JagMan, was the Cobalt Blue C4 at Yorkshire Classic Porsche the car you mentioned in your post above? is the YCP car known to the forum?  It has a heap of history with Strasse etc.
It looks good to me but I have little experience on this subject.

btw I'm looking for a daily(ish) driver not a method of building a hedge fund.

Best Regards

That's very good news, I must say I thought the price being asked was too high from a private seller and the high mileage, but what do I know?

Well it is JZM. Top prices for little used or high finish cars. Both the C2's are very original it seems and kept as they were. In a world of the most modded 911 ever I guess total orginality is hard to find and the prices reflect this. Those aero mirros and D90's you sold on ebay all those years ago... :)

I find it interesting that a 964 Cabriolet was so massively more expensive than both the C2/C4 Targa and C2/C4 Coupe variants when new and yet for the moment at least, are still quite a way behind the Coupe values.
Part of the attraction for me is hearing far more of what's going on behind you with that air cooled howl in a Cabriolet...roof up or down, even compared with my RS...but that's a different kind of mechanical clatter !!
I'm sure the market will soon realise these are a comparable bargain at the moment, even in manual. 😉
Cheers.
Nick.
