Who's left?

Pretty sure it was Kalahari Beige

I thought it was Zermatt. Frenchy had a kalahari 220 that I think he sold and Copperman had a kalahari S2 he sold before he got a 135i beamer and left proceedings here IIRC. They were the only kalahari's I recall.

Jeez, 2 more names, although I think Frenchy pops up from time to time. Got my chipset from him many moons ago when we all met up a few times at Alasdair's (Sulzeruk), who himself has left the Porsche fold and has a motorbike racing team now, does the TT and stuff.

What about Suffolk 944, I think that was his username? I only remember his car because he bought it from a friend of Paul Smith. It was for sale when I was looking for a turbo, but when I found out it had done something like 100 laps of the Nurburgring I lost interest. That's a track day car IMO.

I swapped a message with Jon only last week when Davyboy spotted that it was back up for sale. Jon sold it about 18 months ago and last week it was up with a trader on Autotrader for £35k :p Lots of restoration work done and a 350bhp engine. I just looked on Autotrader and it's gone now.

I wonder what happened to WUF? The guy that bought it from Ben was talking about rebuilding the engine, but he's been silent for a while.

Still here, just not doing much with 944s at the moment, they are both safely tucked up indoors though!
Tony

It's been a while....first time on here for a couple of years I guess

Still got my S2, has hardly been used this year as we've been busy building a house... It's currently parked at a friends house, need to collect it soon.
Garage will be getting a 4 post lift, but I think the 944 will be going [:(]

How about a guy called Mark Dalton, never knew him, but supposedly he owned a 944 turbo with one of Jon Mitchells 3.2 engines. Rumored to be gathering moss, stored at JMG?

I met Mark a couple of times - he was down Reading way (maybe worked for microsoft?)

I bet Mark K has still got his 944's - they were absolutely spotless!

Spoke to one of the guys at JMG the other week, when looking for an ABS sensor, and we had a quick chat about the scarcity of turbo's on the road. He said it was probably because most of them were lying in their yard!

I think Jon said MD had gone overseas and hadn't left a forwarding address. That was some time ago though.

I think that there were a number of issues with the 3.2 car (ex Ben Burt with the red leather interior) and Mark was not happy with the Jon's efforts to resolve them at the time. Mark also had a very smart 911 (3.2?). I think he was heading for a job in Eygpt last time I spoke to him,

I seriously considered buying the car that Paul Smiths 3.2 engine ended up in. By then a Fabspeed exhaust had been fitted, and maybe some other parts too. In the end we were £1k apart on the price, and I didn't fancy driving all the way down to look at it.

I think it was 3 or 4 years ago that he posted he was thinking about selling one of them. I asked how much the red turbo would cost, and he went quiet...

I was on Titanic shortly after I bought my 220T in 1997. I don't post much, but enjoy reading this forum from time to time. I still have my 220T.

Not the people, but the car. I wonder what happened to the red turbo S I was going to buy around 15 years ago. It had been owned by 2 brothers, called Rogers I think, around Milton Keynes. It had also been the feature car in a Porsche magazine 944 turbo buyers guide. The offside rear wing was a lighter shade of red, and I seem to recall someone later posting they'd found out it was on the insurance database. Pretty sure the price ended up around £7k, which considering it had 993 turbo front brakes, 17" Cup wheels and some Promax/Lindsey bits, was a fair price.

John I think, was it not quite heavily modified and he called it Beaky?

Boo! Still here. It is sort of expected as a forum Admin.

Beaky's last proper outing was the Bedford track day when he broke a (modified) ball joint. I had the original wishbones refitted but antique belts now leave me afraid to start him. Need to get that sorted but disposable income (or lack thereof) precludes spending money on something I am unlikely to use, now that I live in the wilds of South Wales.

I should sell him but it seems he appreciates more than the annual insurance bill so in the garage he stays.

Son has a Cayman S so there is a glimmer of a spark growing to do something with Beaky, although, if someone was to make me an offer I couldn't refuse I could be tempted to wish him goodbye. The garage space would be useful.

Yes that would be me ! I moved the car on around 18 months ago. Must say I felt a pang of regret when I saw it up for sale at that dealer (and not just because of the price !) According to their website it was sold (and pretty quickly it seems) but for how much who knows ?

Had a lot of work done on the car - not just the extra booooost (375 bhp in her prime) but also suspension, brakes, bodywork etc etc but all good things come to an end and looked like the dealer sorted out the paint and some other bits and bobs too to help justify his asking price...

Had many years happy motoring with it, made many friends and went to some fantastic events during those years, so not bad for an old track car [;)]

I didn't say it was old [:)]. If I recall correctly, the previous owner had to leave it at the Nurburgring, because it had broken down out there. I think the clip with the 968 may still be on youtube.
