what did you do to your 944 today

Looks nice Paul....🙂
Thanks Pete, I've had 3 of them, all from new, going back to 2013. I might buy another one of these next, just to stick in the conservatory, and look at.

Got the correct windscreen fitted finally to the 944 Turbo with top tint, and it was fitted properly as well unlike the previous attempt (it wasn't flush with the bodywork).

I think I've only had one new screen fitted, that was on my old BMW 328 Coupe. The fitter had to call for backup to get the old one out. I still tense up a bit when I hear stones hit my screen.

They aren't cheap and I didn't do it through the insurance as it was my mistake.

The fitters had the old screen out pretty quickly and in one-piece apart from the aerial cable which they cut. They did comment that they thought the original screen hadn't been fitted properly as they thought it was slightly loose!

The screen on my 328 was due for replacement due a small crack . I was cleaning the inside of it one day, and bumped the rear view mirror with my head. That caused a surprisingly big crack to appear.

That did cross my mind that I could have had an accident with it but then I would have had to go through the insurance, this way I got the correct screen from the dealer myself and was able to choose the fitter.

Finally got around to replacing the door check straps with new ones that I purchased a couple of years ago. Made a world of difference! The drivers door was the worse and there was no firm stop or hold left on the old strap, it was so bad that the door could open so far as to hit the edge of the front wing. The new straps have a firm hold position and don't let the door open as far.

Old straps below with the part numbers.

Not today but yesterday the old girl had her last ever MOT, no adviseries as per usual. I was shocked that she had only covered 241 miles last year but considering what I've been through not really that surprising. Next year I'll register her as Historic.🙂

Lucky you Pete. Road tax is a rip off on a turbo now, even though I cash it in every winter.

Same here, though I had several advisories ! Have had to SORN mine as I need to repair an oil leak on the sump gasket and replace the engine mounts. It will take me a wee while..

That's very cool Pete! I must be in the same boat then :) I wouldn't want to try and MoT mine atm though.. Still in the process of engine building... Block is with Capricorn, head ready to be rebuilt, trying to order some pistons!

Good luck with the build Phil, as for pistons take a look at IASA full race, I'm assuming they are still available. The difference in engine response is pretty amazing, my one concern at the time was how long the rings would last due to how small/light they are. Well she's covered well over 20k miles so far but being realistic the rings due to their size must wear quicker, plus with the extra machined grove below the first ring to hold higher boost with no blow-by would most likely increase wear but all good so far. Should outlast me..plus as I find it difficult to get in and out of these days not sure how much longer I can drive her...😥

Is this the 3rd time Capricorn have worked on your block? Do you get an invite you to their Christmas party now :).
