what did you do to your 944 today

I hope to take mine out mid April for the first classic car show this season at a pub near me. I'll need to see if I can still drive first.....after a very long stay in hospital following my heart op I lost the use of my left leg due to a tendon collapse. I have sat in the car and can push the clutch pedal down, problem is I can't lift my leg to place it on the pedal. Whether I feel safe enough to ever drive the car again is an unknown.
Really sorry to hear that Peter :(. I hope you continue to recover and get the strength back to drive that beauty of yours :cool:

I might be in the market for a really good 944 turbo...depends which way the wind is blowing, whether I want another old car though...
 
I think if I still had mine I'd be just as paranoid Mark. Every now and then I look at the recent MOT history on the DVLA website and it's MOT expired 5 years ago and lots of the previous yearly comments are for corrosion
I drove mine as a daily for 7 years in all conditions including plenty of snow as it was my only car. When I eventually stopped using it as a daily in around 2014 it needed a new outer sill (other side had already been replaced, plus a front wing due to an incident...), bottom rear of one wing, back of rear arches welded, two doors as the skins had started to rot at the bottom and part of the right side floor panel. In those days I used to wash my car at the very least every two weeks and always made sure to thoroughly rinse the underside and wheel arches. During it's life as a daily it also had the two mounts welded at the front of the trailing arms.

I've laid under the car many times during the last few years on the restoration and looking at other cars that come up for sale I'd still say it is one of the better ones with a very clean chassis. Now I've restored the complete rear end though I could never bring myself to drive it in the winter here due to how filthy the roads get and the astronomical amount of rock salt that is used.

I get really jealous when I see the classifieds with plenty of rust free 944s in the drier US states going for less than the rust buckets for sale over here :ROFLMAO:

Mine will come out of hibernation when the weather has stabilised enough that the roads are dry (and the numerous pot holes have been repaired). Hopefully the April showers will wash most of the salt away!

Don't you SORN your car in the winter? I always look forward to getting a few months back from the DVLA by cheque. Always purchase 12 months and claim back when car goes into hibernation.

Ditto, sucks to not be able to do the stuff you want to. Fractured my lower vertebrae in 2018 and had several months of rehabilitation before I could do almost any activity.
