Truro, Cornwall.

Two of the committee members live between Truro and Land's End. To be fair, a very small proportion of the r15 membership live west of Truro so most events happen further east. There is a planned drive to Land's End just after Christmas, I believe.
 
We live in West Cornwall and having recently become part of the R15 organising team our aim is to put on events in the area. The recent autumn drive attracted 25 members in 15 cars, we also had a well attended coffee and cake meeting at Trevaskis Farm, near Hayle.
As mentioned, we are going to drive down to Lands End on 27th December. Further events will be arranged in 2023.
 
Members receive a monthly newsletter and magazine with event details and access to a Facebook group. Most events are also publicised on R15‘s section of the PCGB website, unless organised ar short notice (e.g. it’s a nice day, fancy coming on a drive?) where Facebook is used.

Please remember that your R15 organising team is new and still getting used to the role and the multitude of communication methods. The Forum appears to be the least well followed therefore it is sometimes overlooked. Apologies if that happens.

If nothing much is being posted, there's no reason to be logging in, is there?
It is the official Club medium and preferred method of communication after all, isn't it? [;)]

Good questions Clive, after all, the Porsche GB forum should be preferred, especially as not everyone uses Facebook or other social media platforms.

 
Thanks for making us aware of the forum’s relevance. As previously stated, we are part of a new regional organising team and still getting to grip with all aspects of the role.

Clive, I know that in your mind you think of this thread as banter, that you are being amusing and informative but in my mind your comments are unhelpful and I consider them to be verbal abuse.
I suggest you think very carefully in future as to the effect your posts have on those you aim them at.

Sorry Nigel, I would read that as banter as well. Clive does have a way, but it is all meant in the best interests of the Club. Let's all have a virtual hug, shake hands, and get on with it shall we?

I will second you on your comment.
This is exactly why the forum is in the gutter and hardly used by members.
It certainly is not the preferred means of communicating with members and RO’s are not required to use it.
Obviously, the most platforms used to get information out to members will help but unfortunately this forum only seems to get used to moan at volunteers.
I hope admin take up your complaint
but I somehow think they won’t bother.

Goodness, you're very quick to take offence where no offence is intended.

25 years in this Club and over 6k posts and never been accused of verbal abuse until now. Haven't verbally abused anyone now either. Hint of irony in my post, maybe. [:)] But being a member for 8 years with just 7 forum posts (6 on this thread) suggests you aren't very forum minded atm and I was pleased, that in your new role, you have said you will be taking our forum more seriously - that's all I intended.

As RO, you may need to be a little more resilient, since brick bats always tend to fly around those of us who organise things for others. I've pm'd you my telephone number in case you wish to speak to me personally.

We're all on the same side, aren't we? and at least this has managed to breath some life back into the R15 section! ??????

As an admin I also see this as nothing more than banter. Clive has his way as we all do and lots of what he says is tongue in cheek.

Stuart, I think that RO’s really should be using this forum as well as all other social media platforms that they and the club deem necessary. After all this forum is the only social media platform that is on the club website heading.

Yes there are more ‘in vogue’ social media platforms that seem popular, but given that this forum has lasted over 20 years is testament to its usefulness in helping our members.

I cannot support the call for Clive to be guilty of verbal abuse.

 
I am very disappointed with the comments from John Sims and Peter Bull. Banter is fine in person when you can see the body language behind its delivery. In writing it’s very different. This is the 21st century Gentlemen, you need to be more aware of what you type.
