The "Cayman owners and track days" 2021 thread

981 GT4 manual - Minor Repairs section - Changing Wheels & Wheels Bolts ... provides info on greasing / not greasing ... 718 GT4 the same ?

From memory it mentions not greasing the braking surfaces(!) and there are three locating tabs that can be greased. Can't remember anything about greasing wheel bolts though.

Jeff,

The 160Nm came in when black wheel bolts were introduced. Whether years later Black/Silver is still the delineator I don't know.

Thank you Dave

Tow Eye 987 : I have a surplus, standard item from my CR if anyone wants it. Secured by a donation to the NHS
Did someone ever take this ?? I would give it an excellent if hopefully seldom used 'classic' home !! NHS donation likely to be significant, but may include vital organs .. [8D]

Would be a nice contrast to Zenith Blue on My Speed & Hillclimb Champs debut, date /TBC !

cheers, Maurice

Thanks for that Ralph.

I think that the Cayman R came with black wheel bolts, which would be about the time when the recommended torque was revised, but I thought that it applied to all the 987.2 range which would have included silver bolts as well. Upping the torque for dry threads would seem to be a logical action.

Jeff

Is anyone here going to the PCGB Croft Track Day on Wednesday?

if so, it would be nice to meet you in person.

I hope to go along if they will allow a spectator or two! Trying to find out without getting an automatic 'no'

The info sent out last week to participants confirmed that no spectators are allowed, I’m afraid.
