Silverstone track evening?

Looking forward to it. Did nearly 6 hours in my S2 today and will be even more Monday as its an out and back job for me back down to zomerset. Weather forecast has progressed down to light rain [:)]

Really looking forward to this, rain or shine. Just checked with the [link=http://www.pub-explorer.com/nhants/pub/greenmaninnbrackleyhatch.htm]Green Man[/link] and apparently they are open tomorrow eve, so could be an option maybe. Last food order 9:50pm, last orders at the bar 11pm.

I'll be there in the day like I said although will be in my Honda S2000 as I did this to the 944: boooo

Well the local weather is lovely here in Northants at the moment and the forecast is for clouds to roll in late this afternoon then turning wet overnight, so we might be lucky and have a totally dry evening [:D]

Seriously though, that looks pretty nasty. Hope you can get it sorted.

Well that was a fun evening! Great turnout and some interesting driving conditions [:D]. New rear tyres are definitely required before the next one, though I doubt more tread would have made much difference last night. In fact a Smart car seemed to be the weapon of choice once it was properly wet! Neil - I hope you made it back to Somerset ok? Next Goldtrack evenings are 18th and 25th July, with 2 more in August. Hopefully we can get another good crowd out at one of these.

The evening had a lovely clear track, and pretty well-matched cars. The exact opposite of the day event, where I saw some pretty stuff from the masses of rent-a-Radical warriors. Shame the rain settled in so heavily, it was quite interesting as it started to get slippery! [8D] Think I might try to invite the sulky barmaid to be my friend on Facebook today.

Paul - Think she was expecting a quiet night! Chris - you were still out long enough for me to get a few pics I think. Thanks for a good evening guys, will post at least some pics tonight.

Thanks guys for a great evening, good to meet up with some old friends as well. I got back down to Yeovil no problem at all as it happens. Crazy thing really when we all drove off the car started and drove like nothing had happened. Cruised back down to Somerset much the same as on the way up just worse weather. Well at least now I know what was at the heart of last years gremlins and can finally hopefully fix it without too much expense. Little frustrating though only having 2 short sessions before my engine cut out and the heavens opened, I reckon I did 2 90% laps before the red flag and maybe 1/2 to 1 before the cut out which was maybe 5 mins before the torrent of water. Total number of laps probably about a dozen or so as spyderman says. I felt sorry for the Caterham that spun off and caused the red flag, I passed the guy the lap before like he was standing still, he looked nervous on the track, probably caused himself to spin as a result. Really odd night like that, loads of Caterhams crawling round the track and yet Smart cars being driven by lunatics [:D], also had a couple of odd incidents where I let someone pass only to nearly rear end em in the next corner, weird. That Arena pit corner, the fast right hander a good example.

Always the issue with rent-a-car companies. The smarts were going pretty well during the day, the caterhams very fast, but totally out-classed by the faster stuff there. I'd be nervous in what I guess was is the guy's first time on track and in a Caterham, and then on a very changeable track!

Hi guys, Hope you had a great time & sorry I didn't make it. Picked up a hole in the radiator on the way to Silverstone, and I didn't think the rain was quite enough to cool the engine on its own..So with a "Ssssssss" from the front end, the car spent the afternoon at Promax rather than Pitlane (Thanks to Andy and crew for fitting me in and getting me going). Looking forward to the next one..

I can do both 18th and 25th; will likely do the other PCGB Brands date too. Need to sort both Donington and Snetterton too. Was watching my new tyres carefully. Pressures shot up at least 6psi on the first few laps, then another 5psi on the next lot, so let them down to standard twice. Got a few squeals out of them on the tight first corner at Club and coming out of Aintree, but no significant wear.

Was great fun, Thanks again to Simon for trusting me to drive his car, very enjoyable - and nice to drive one on track without the well worn unloved feeling my coupe has developed, excellent motivation to sort it! When I went out the track was virtually empty, i think there was a caterham (spinning) a boxster (spinning) a morgan and not much else. Smarts were funny, you could see how little momentum they had in the wet corners and even though it was wet they were almost lifting the front inside wheel clear of the tarmac. Sorry you didn't get out more Neil! was looking forward to seeing your car lapping - hope it is a simple and cheap fix and you can start to enjoy it. Tony

I thought it was a very well organised event with regard to GoldTrack, Low numbers meant less pressure on the circuit however there was a certain idiot in a Ford Asbo who showed himself up a few times. Thanks to Paul for letting us borrow his towing eye [:)] We stayed out for a bit in the rain and had some fun, the 968 was right on the limit practically every corner in the wet.The track looked like a lake at points [:D]. There was of course a nice tank slapper at one stage but Marcus was driving at the time and held it well. It was my first time round Silverstone and I will definitely be back.
