Silverstone Track Evening -Mk2 - 25 July

My car is taking a bit more to get it back on the road than hoped, so far it's had a new battery (another expensive lightweight one [:(] my own fault for leaving it connected for so long), new front discs/pads, front calipers overhauled, new rear tyres, welding an exhaust leak and then some general service/prep work. Then there's the small issue of an MOT if Ollie and the guys at RPM Technik can get it all done in time (sterling service from them as usual). Fingers crossed it'll then run alright after being in hibernation for so long!

Ouch! [&o]

How did the red one get on, or shouldn't I ask? [&:]

Saw your car today Peter - sharp intake of breath - crikey mate, there woz bits everywhere - Ollie reckoned he'd got at least half another car left over...

Just kidding! Will be at Silverstone with RPM so if it breaks again, they'll be close by!

[:D] You had me worried for a second.
I have to admit I was rather pleased to hear that RPM will be there as well, just hope I don't need their services!

The red car was a bit more involved than I hoped, but got through with flying colours eventually, nothing major but all the little jobs added up. Can't really complain though, has been cheap and fun motoring for a few years. Next year will see them both needing belts, discs on the 944S and wheel bearings on both (I think), geo on both, plus a bit more work on the white car to tweak it (mapping etc). Could be an expensive time, I'll have to talk to Ollie about bulk discounts [;)]

Yay! Now in posession of a shiny MOT thanks to RPM [:D] Some advisories apparently, but hopefully nothing that will stop me getting out on track. As usual, it was a bit of a last minute panic [:)], must plan further ahead!

Excellent, good news, I have a nice firm brake pedal and a shock absorber that's attached and a new mini camera to play with, weather looks like it should be dry - cant wait!

I was wondering the same, can't find anything on the net, perhaps there isn't anything whilst they clear up after the weekend?

Great news - see you all later.

I'm bringing my business partner who has never been to a trackday before so is hoping for some passenger laps (not too scarey [;)] )

Ohh yeah :) seriously looking foreward to it now. Just trying to figure out how I can mount my video camera?! I have no mount.. And it's not a fancy small cam need to fix it somehow[>:]

Would love to be there but an oil leak from the turbo feed and the small issue of a 7pm job in Shaftsbury avenue kind of put paid to that plan.

Fantastic DRY evening!
Will post pics as soon as I can!
Thanks Steve great blast....
Ben Hope its not too bad and the food was worth coming back for.

For future reference: you can make a quick camera mount using a cheap suction gripper (usually sold at better pound shops and at wholesalers as either a dent puller or a glass carrier) and, if you like/need, a pound shop mini tripod. The tripods are rubbish, of course, but you only need the screw: which you mount through one of the sucker handles. No two items are similar, so its hard to be more precise, but when you have the parts in front of you, for about £2 [:D], itll all become clear - you may need Araldite too.

Itll only mount onto the side window of course, but the one I made was just as secure and reliable as a good B-Hague suction mount; and more reliable that a professional windscreen mount! (B-Hague clicky link - theyve got everything that you need, but it all costs more than £2!)

Great photos Mike

Really good evening & great to meet everybody. Car was great fun, must learn to use the brakes less, though ;-) especially in that corner after the new pit straight.

Bozo of the day prize goes to a white cabrio beemer. Yes mate, you're lightning down the straights..and I'm no expert at this myself, but I understand you only need to brake once for each corner.

Hope everybody made it to the pub..and out again. I had an early morning in the office, so had to settle for a virtual pint.

Cheers
Sean

Please note that GoldTrack say that they will not all you to run with cameras on suction mounts or on the glass - cameras have to be clamped to the cage (or whatever). Other TDOs may vary.

Isn't it always a BMW driver?! Did anyone see what caused the red flag? The blue Z4 eventually span at Village.

Hope you got some shots of me, Mike, in the RPM Boxster? I was having a fantastic time! Sorry if I appeared unsociable, but the car wasn't cheap and I wanted to make the most of it!

And great to see some superb-looking 968s - the white ClubSport was an outstanding example.
