Talking of astro turf surfing, guess what I was caught doing by the photographer [:D]

Thanks Peter, I would like to have time to edit a longer video together with the more interesting bits but not managed so far, just cropped some laps out - yours looks good too Peter, your car is much more impressive than my rather tired road biased machine,
Tony

You guys with your super high speeds on the straights are making me jealous for a turbo motor, what was it one of you jokers said to me last time "see I told you turbos are better", hint hint Tony [:D]

I am sure I would have been more subtle ;)

Purely for comparison, this is interesting to watch. Its a best lap from an instructor in an Elise Trophy car:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hr6TVNUzz8g

He's about 21 seconds faster than my fastest time, just over 10mph up on my average. Looks like I've got work to do!

That video is excellent, I was struggling with the entry to the new pit straight and he made it look so easy, will have to be braver with the curb on the right hand side next time.

Still got loads of time to save under braking too, but just don't have the confidence in them at the moment, I just wish I had the firmness of brake pedal that I used to get with the old lux calipers [:(]

Its a bit fast that Malcolm Edison lap. I reckon an S2 race car can get round in about 2:33 to 2:34 maybe a touch quicker. The quickest mk3 MX-5's did it in 2:36 which is pretty amazing for a car with only 180 Bhp and about 60 Kg or so lighter than my S2. Just take a touch off from that vid and that is how fast anyone who wants to do well in the PCGB club championship race later this year has to go.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading all the reports on this thread - so annoyed to have had to miss it.

Mouth even started to water a bit on hearing that The Green Man was back to it's best................ !!

Malcom Edeson's vid in the Elise is great, so much of what he does is in the feet and it gave me something to think about for that alone.

I know it is not an evening trackday but I am planning to do the full day on Monday 19th Sept at Silverstone, again with Goldtrack. Anyone tempted?

Bit rich for me at the moment and the lure of Snetterton or Donington for a full day is greater, but may well come along and watch if you're going.

Peter when are you thinking of? That Silverstone day doesn't work for me either as its right after a race weekend. However I got really hooked into Dony and would love to explore my car a bit more there. Snetterton as well whilst a long way for me is a demon to exorcise, again should be racing there at the end of the year on the 200 layout but never driven the 300 so a day on the 300 would be welcome.

Anyone up for a day at Oulton sometime in the next 6 weeks?

If I don't join the PCGB RS day at Snetterton (would they even want a Boxster on track with them?) that's a possibility for me. I've already got the day booked as leave.

Goldtrack have a day on the Snetterton 300 on Wednesday 24th August for a relatively minor £249 - can't do that one myself though.

I am thinking of doing the Silverstone evening at the end of this month if I can make it, but that's all I've got planned at the moment. I'm very keen to do Donington this year but it might have to be a winter trackday, will have to see how time goes.

I watched the BTCC coverage at the weekend and can't help thinking that the new Snetterton layout doesn't look as much fun as the old one, so will probably try to get back to Brands before going there.

Oulton is a bit of a trek for me and quite high risk given my engine is a bit tired, so wont be going that far for a while unless I can get a few days off around a trackday which rather increases the costs (was hoping to do Anglesey in the same manner, but looking doubtful for this year now).

Keep me posted on this thread...I've had a nightmare with my car this summer, all sorts of delays.. but hope to be back up & running soon (early Sept I Hope)

Further to the above I am still swaying on whether to do the Silverstone evening on the 30th with my brand new tires (tall tread blocks). I would really like to feel I have mastered the circuit a bit better, I need to get out there again.

I would also very very much like to do Brands Hatch at some point. It has always been my favourite circuit as a spectator.

I'm just not sure if I should wait until next spring when the tires will have done a few thousand miles and are getting low? (I've heard horror stories)

Personaly I wouldn't worry, just take it easy for a few laps and keep a close eye on temps/pressures. I've only found it takes a few heat cycles to get the tyres to behave as they should.

Mine were new at Silverstone on Monday night. I got to visit parts of Copse I'd never been to before! They're not quite so shiney now either!
