Saratoga Sunroof - Bulk-Buy

As I am sure you are, please be aware that people have a habit of thinking, "That's a good idea" adding a name to a list and then subsequently changing their mind. I have every confidence that wouldn't be the case here but would suggest, at the very least, a deposit is obtained, if not the full value, before final numbers are established. It would be most unfortunate if people thought they were getting a 20+ deal if only 5 orders finally came to fruition.

Top man in sorting this. It is a very nice looking product and exactly what the 944 needs. Panoramic sun roofs are all the rage now and, who would have thought, the 944 had the potential for that very feature 25 years ago.

Hovering on putting my name down, just a thought.....is there any info on whether spare seals are/will be available? I presume it's a continuous loop which is stretched round the edge of the glass?

Yup, thought about this! I run a small business (totally unrelated!) and have learnt that lesson....talk's cheap! I'm planning on getting price breaks and if we hit the numbers we all know what that means.

***** Please think carefully before signing up as the numbers are needed to offer it at the prices stated ****** [8|]

Good question. I assume so but not sure where it would come from, Pilkington are glass manufacturers, albeit extremely helpful ones given how helpful they were with the Rennlist bunch! Reality is that it'll be a while before it needs one (hopefully) and it's not like it needs to be the only roof you have. It'll be easier to answer when some of us actually have one but the offer is only open until end of Feb.

Just added myself as no 24. Any idea what the delivery time will be for the first order?

I contacted Pilkington about 8 years ago and they wanted about £900 for a 1 off, so this looks a very good buy.

At the rate this group buy is going I think I might give it a miss, I will have a rare car - non glass sunroof model :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Being tinted, and made by Pilkington (who are very smart people), they won't make your car into a high-speed roasting oven when the sun shines (although if they were then an S2 roasting oven would be faster than a Turbo roasting oven.)

Have to agree to disagree there Oli - The turbo will always be the faster "fan assisted" oven [:D]

Well well well .... I wondered when anyone would notice that and it's taken 3 pages for someone to comment on it! [:)]

You turbo chaps need to speed up your game a little!

Oli.

Yes, that screen shot coincides with The Big Forum Hack Of Late August 2007. As I recall it was a dastardly - and very nearly successful! - attempt to gain permanent control of the accounts of the better-looking forum members, but the caddish miscreants were beaten off by the valiant efforts of McNulters, Smiffy and the other moderators in a memorable battle that raged for many hours!

Unfortunately (but perhaps unsurprisingly!) I was one of the worst affected and my account was sadly abused to post several things that clearly didn't come from my own keyboard. I have allowed these comments to stay on the forum as a lasting tribute to the heroic efforts of our moderators on that day, and how they gave selflessly in order that the forum should continue. The travails of the brave, brave men of the PCGB team are thus remembered to this day and I am sure they are, to a man, grateful to you Eldavo for reminding the world of their efforts. Well done Eldavo! :ROFLMAO:

(Chuff me - writing that has left a really bad taste in my mouth. Do you think I got away with it?)

Oli.

Eager to get this sorted for the great summer that is on its way! When do we need to send a deposit/payment? Are you waiting till end Feb for a confirmed number? Just shout when you want paying.

We're waiting for a fair cut off date of end of February to gather as many names as possible. It makes more sense for Pilkington to place one order and ship all at the same time. Doing it this way also makes it more likely that they will ship it as a special order from the US rather than waiting 2 months for their next usual shipment so by a strange twist of modern economics and logistics, waiting longer will get it here faster. [:D]

Trust me, you're not the only one chomping at the bit! [;)]
