Saratoga Sunroof - Bulk-Buy

I've just ordered one from the states via a reseller. Fingers crossed it arrives and fits...and then fingers crossed for an end to lock-down and some good weather!

Once in, you won’t take it out, one of the best things I have got for the 968

completely transforms the interior of the car, hope they don’t beat you up too bad for duty

Would you be able to post details of who you bought from, cost including shipping etc. please?

Hi Craig,

The guy I contacted was called Frank Zappa on the facebook 'porsche 944 parts for sale and trade' group. He's also on a '944 owners' group page...

With the exchange rate I recon it worked out similar to what you see on the second hand market occasionally via ebay in the uk (or cheaper when you see some us adverts, there's one currently advertising for $700)...so for a brand new one, worth it (nothing on these cars are 'cheap' imo)...Let me know if you find him and if he can supply you.

Top arrived today and I unboxed it and cleaned the packaging crap off it. Dropped it in and it fitted right away. Fit seems good (not particularly worried if it's not entirely weatherproof, but I'll have to wait and see, TBH the std roof isn't entirely weatherproof anyway!).

Total cost including the dreaded import duty worked out to be £750.

Ah, I signed up for the original group buy, so no import duty,

I love it, never take it out
Doh! oh well...

I bought a new battery for my car today as it hasn't moved for months and the conditioner didn't work :(

My sunroof is in pretty bad condition so I could really do with replacing it, that said the roof needs a respray too...

I've a list of things to do on my car, I'll start with them this weekend and see if I can make some progress!

I'll probably get around to selling mine eventually - pretty sure I'm selling the car this year so there will be even less point to having one of these 'brand new in box'! £418 ain't happening though : I really would feel like a prize plonker for buying the thing in the first place then [:D]

Was just reading on rennlist earlier - looks like they kind of organised a group buy late last year which has dragged on into this year due to the usual shenanegans with Pilkington... I did have a contact at Pilkington UK, sent them an email I think last year and they said they didn't have any available and weren't looking at making any. Apparently the US had 300 made, not sure if they were all sold or not - there is a guy called fejjj over on rennlist who I believe is the distributor as Pilkington US have said they no longer deal with customers directly and has to be via a distributor.

Well they have some available I didn't ask him if he'd ship to the UK to assume it was shipping within the US -

$649 + $139 for Insured shipping

So annoyed to have missed this group buy. Was away from the 944 scene for quite a few years with the car being sorn.

If anyone here want to sell theirs (fat chance, I know) or if there is another group buy, I'd be interested.

Check out FB Porsche 944 no spam, I believe user Frank Zappa has a supply. If not on Porsche 944 no spam post on that site and someone will give you the link.
