If I didn't buy the s2 i'd feel as though I'd be missing out, performance wise, but in 'real world' driving I think it may disappoint. If I can make a comparison, & I'm not suggesting for one minuite that a MK2 Golf GTI is a Porsche 944, but dare I sudggest a comparison in driving characteristics between 8 valve & 16 valve engines? I've owned both Golfs, & still have a lovely 8v, but the 16v was a huge disappointment. Ok, if it was thrashed it was quick but that's not practical for every day driving & didn't suit my driving style.
Would I find the same with the 944 8v & 16v engines? I don't want to waste my time or a potential sellers time.
The 2.5l 16V engine in the 944S is often described as needing to be revved to make decent progress. That's not an accusation that can be made about the 3.0l 16V engine in the S2; it is much more responsive at low RPM.

The S2 engine would not disappoint, its one of the most advanced engines in the 944 line and it has the most torque and power of all the n/a cars with some pretty good low down grunt to boot, making probably the best of the bunch for 'real world driving'. If its a n/a car your after its arguably the one to go for, alternatives would be the 968 or Turbo models.

It has the sports seats, that's nice. The wheels are wrong and someone has put Pirelli P6000s on it (aka ditchfinders) so it'll need 4 new tyres
What is wrong with P6000's??

Hi Steve, I'm just up the road from you in Gosforth and would be only too happy to poke about at any prospective purchases with you. PM me if you need anything. My Turbo S will be back from the body shop late Jan - I won't take you out in it though or you'll want one

Dreadful tyres. I wouldn't have them on my daily drive let alone anything with "performance" pretensions.
it's not so bad if they are on all 4 wheels as at least you even out the lack of grip...and they last for ever!

thinking about phoning up and asking about this one, its not my first choice of colour (black being my 1st) or interior but looks pretty tidy not sure as to why it has a blue steering wheel. Any opinions?

Hi Will,
This is about 12 miles down the road from me, I don't profess to be a fountain of knowledge but don't mind taking a look for you if you are really interested and giving you the heads up before doing a 600 mile round trip.

Of whats currently available I was going to phone up about that one and this one tomorrow;
(though the bonnet and wings look a bit dodgy so got to find out about that)

Though if you could view it for me it would give me an unbiased opinion on it and i really would be greatly appreciative of making the potential 600 mile round and wasted journey if it wasnt as good as it looks/makes out and would save phoning up to only if you reckon its worth while.
Thanks
Will
