Hi Stuart

I suggest you talk to porka968... what she cant tell you about racing 'frontrunners' isn't worth knowing!!

It's pretty rare I check this bit of the forum (as you might tell by the length of time since this thread was started). Perhaps I should look more often. I'm a fan of many other bits, will see what else there is round here now.

I've got a red 968 cabrio tipronic. The number of other 968s I've seen in last year I could count on one hand (a blue club sport in Pimlico, a graphite sport coupe in Westminster, a black coupe at Charles Ivey, a speed yellow on the King's Road, another red cabrio on the Embankment, all London as it happens) . We are a small and select bunch. Hope folks have seen the new ``was it you'' section in the general discussion area... cheers

[:(]Just bought a 2 year old 997 C2, and was going to advertise my beloved 968 Club Sport, I can't do it!!! The 968 may have less power and be 12 years old, and maybe I am just more confident driving it, but in many ways its a better drive than the 997!!!.

Hi,
could you elaborate, maybe I could use that in one of the articles and open up some good natured debate. Not necessarilly front versus rear but just about driving dynamics, less power more balance etc. or whatever you think.

Cheers,
Stuart.

Hi Stuart,
What I was really trying to say was that although the 997 is the current "state of the art", the 968 certainly does not feel like a car that went out of production some 12 years earlier. For me on normal roads it is lighter and easier to drive, and I certainly feel physically more comfortable driving it in heavy traffic. If I were driving at speed on a twisty road I am certain that at the moment that the 968 would have the edge, probably because I am totally confident in the cars ability. In a straight line the 997's power would get it there 1st, but that,s not what driving is about for me, balance, feedback and "chuck-ability" are key factors.
I suppose that a lot of it is that I need to acquire the confidence in the 997 that I have in the 968, but for the moment I am loath to part it, especially when driving the two cars back to back, has made me realize just what a super car the 968 is.
Financially, trying to keep both cars does not make sense and the 968 will have to go, but not without regret.

Cheers Don

Thanks for that Don, I think very well put and what I would call a balanced appraisal, would you mind if I used that in an article.

Cheers,
Stuart.

Stuart,
No problem. Now you have recognised my literal talents and I am to be "published", maybe I shall have to consider a career change!

Don
