recover seats/interior

I dont think he would appreciate me doing that. plus it was an empty comment as he knows I cant afford it. I am tempted by the leatherette option though. my bolster is missing material, however a friend works at breasley foam so I will be able to get one made for nothing but would need a pattern, if anyone has one?? [:D] pleeeassse :)

Odd to turn down good business, particularly now.

Take your old bolster in to use as a template. I'm sure they can work from that.

its just a local "shop" ile put it to him, cant do more than that.

he just happened to be with my dad when I was showing him on my tablet, he just said let me look. showed him, and he just said I could make you those, he just said of the top of his head in a leatherette it would be about £300 and in leather at least triple. so dont think it was a concrete price.

if you're genuinly interested ile ask him for a firm price.

No, I'm not. I'm happy with my interior at the moment and can't afford a re-cover. But there are fairly often posts on here about leather interiors, and the default answer (Southbound) is very, very expensive. If he's good and reliable and his work is of a high standard then other people may well be interested in contacting him.

Thanks for the offer tho'.

any thoughts??

where does the shape differ? is it in the base? mines not here with me so dont have anything to compare to.

Look at the shape of the seats:

Look particularly at the shape of the top of the inset on the back, and the shape of the wings on the back.

The two types of cover won't be interchangable.

They have just confirmed that they do them in leather too, but these are pre order only and are more money, approximatly 200 euros more, which means nothing to me. im guessing about £400 delivered. is that good? I think my seats are the early ones? Simon can you remember?

is anyone interested in these? wondering if I can tap them up for a good discount if we get a few orders? [:D]

I can't imagine plastic seat covers being very pleasant in my non-aircon 944! The leather isn't as comfortable as my old cloth seats were in hot weather. [&o]

they have those part plastic part material ones above mate? I quite fancy the all leather ones.

I looked around for sometime before I purchased my covers I can get leather "correctly made" covers for £750 fitted by a local guy, I also considered the vinyl option

My basic seats cost me £900 I considered they were worth the extra as Paul gauranteed they were from "automotive grade" hide many cheap covers use domestic hides which do not have the UV protection, I have also had some experience with triming in the past and used to own a curtain factory so I know the difference a good machinist can make to a project.

My covers have all the foam stiched in, and the seams are all supported from behind and the backs are seamed to emulate the hard back seat design, and the Porsche logo and leather for the plastic bits are included in the £900

I paid an extra £400 for the laser pascha .....

The quality of the seat adds to the driving experience I would hate to spend the next 20 years thinking "I could have done it better"

The good news is Paul is about to launch a "off the peg" range same leather/ same quality just no options and no leather on the plastic bits.......about 20% cheaper I beleive, I will post details when they are available.

So you paid £1300 altogether for both seats or is the £900 per seat? I have to admit they do look pretty dam good and should look great with your pacha door cards. Its good that you have kept the look period and retrospective of these cars, something I'm trying hard to do with mine, these cars with modern bits on just don't do it for me.

I'm picking up my re-trimmed Recaros from Southbound on Monday, similar to 964/993RS seats, with enlarged perforated cushions.

Original 964RS leather Recaros

Recaro Poles Retrimmed by Southbound

Initially I wanted the Recaro's to save weight (About 35kg), but didnt want the large RECARO logo across the back of the seat. The alternative was the leather option from recaro which has a much more suble affair. Then I found out that Capital Seating could re-trim the seats for the same price as the recaros but with custom porsche embossed badges, their quality though seemed questionable.

In the end I contacted Southbound who were able to advise on what Porsche used in their cars and are experts in recreating the factory look. The RS style seat being exactly what I was looking for, as you said if you going to spend good money on seats + interior you might as well get it right first time.

how and where do you get the covers fitted? is it a diy job or will have to be a pro fit? if so what cost expected?
