POLL: Joint 981 Boxster Cayman Register?

ORIGINAL: ralphmusic I use other forums for 981 interest material as you do voting with a mouse. The question is always does one want to lead and enable, or wait for demand to build. In today's more competitive world, guess which wins.
There are plenty of well established forums for anything technical: The one that been around the longest is: http://www.renntech.org old look and feel perhaps but the content is all there and with more of a Cayman bias, started as CaymanClub.net but is now: http://www.planet-9.com

I agree that our forum generally is way to fragmented. What is the point of the forum? It is related to the cars so, in the first instance, I would suggest it is technically orientated. Following that it is a social medium but no-one is going to ignore someone else's post just because they don't own the same car. Paul's point regarding the 924/944/968 fora is extremely valid. If a 924 or 968 owner posts a technical question in the appropriate forum (probably their first attempt at a contact with our Club) they may well not get an answer. If they posted in the 944 forum (even though they have a 924 or 968) I have every confidence they will get the information they seek as all the cars are so closely related. Which solution makes our Club look better? Today there is a 944 Dyno Day, all arranged and sorted in the 944 area of the forum. It is obvious that 924's, 928's and 968's would also be welcome as the rollers wouldn't need to be reconfigured. But they wouldn't really be aware of that without cross posting. I am not familiar with the differences between various Boxster/Cayman models but, to some extent I would assume it would make more sense combining Boxster/Cayman within their associated model groups - after all a Boxster is only a Cayman Cab after all. [;)] It does beg the continued question why we have new Registers/Fora for each subsequent 911 model but not Boxster/Cayman? OK so there are technical similarities and differences but there are also social differences - Which ever way you look at it a GT3 owner is different to a 996 C2 owner. A 996 owner is different to a 991 owner - They will, most likely, have different levels of disposable income and different social expectations. 944 owners are looking for performance on a budget and probably wouldn't be interested in a weeks driving holiday in the Alps. 924 and 968 owners are perhaps similar. While my perception of Boxster/Cayman owners is you are similar in your social aspirations I believe this requires revisiting as old cars become so cheap and the new cars so expensive. Perhaps it is time to split them?

Anybody had same problem Thanks Bill.

Hi Bill, me again! This isn't the right place either as it is someone else's old thread on a totally different topic.

Go to the forum home page and find the Boxster forum. If you click on it you will then see all the recent Boxster posts. Above those you will see a "Post new thread" button. Click on that, then give your thread a title, fill in the text box and post! Hope this helps.
