New Year Gathering - Now 4th March, all welcome

Light snow here but it is settling. I hate to be a pessimist, but i can't help thinking postponing makes sense, we're unlikely to want to stand around gassing for too long in these temps, unless we can find somewhere warm that will not resent us taking up space for a few hours. If it's still happening and the roads are looking ok (just over a 200 mile round trip from here) I will be there (I like driving in snow but only if good progress is possible), but if it does reschedule I can do any days apart from Feb 12th and Feb 26th.

Still no snow in London, had a nice sunny but freezing drive up from Brighton today. I'll check in 8am tomorrow and see what the status is. I can still come if we postpone 2 weeks, but not any of the other weekends. Just hope the forecasters are wrong and it all clears up overnight!

Well, in peterborough (30 mins drive from rutland) the snow is falling quite heavilly. it's been showing for about an hour...and this is the state of the 944.

Unless the sleet predicted for later washes the snow away, I'd say that tomorrow is looking less likely. [:(]

Just got back at 7, and my road is pretty bad. I certainly can't see getting out of my area even if I know the motorway is clear, as it was slippery in the Subaru on winter tyres and it's hills all around me. [] I'll be up early and happy to make a decision but I think it's going to be no from me as the sensible option. All credit to the pub, nice way to keep customers!

It has been snowing here consistently since 5pm. It is now of a depth where I would not take the 944 out due, mainly, to its extreme "summer pattern" tyres and the sure and certain knowledge that even if I got it off the driveway I would never get it back on again. I have checked three weather forecasts (met office, metcheck and accuweather) and for once they all agree, there is much more to come for me here with the snow getting heavier after 9pm and continuing through to 6am. There is no sleet forecast so it will be there in the morning. I would still be happy enough to take the Golf out, it has winter tyres, if that was the only way to make the meeting but my preference is to re-schedule as I'd like to be there in the Porsche. Frankly, spending an hour and a half in a freezing car park kicking the tyres on my Mark IV Golf won't be entertaining for anyone.

ORIGINAL: andy watson Jon, Iif everyone else logs on today at some point we could agree to postpone tomorrow by say 8 pm tonight, I had originally suggested this to the White Horse but they were happy to wait untill tomorrow morning, which personally I think was good of them. I suggest we do the following if all can agree by copy and paste. Cancel 5th February Andy & Lin Watson New date Andy & Lin - 19th Feb or 4th March
Cancel 5th February Andy & Lin Watson GlennS New date Andy & Lin - 19th Feb or 4th March GlennS - 12th Feb, 26th Feb or 4th March

Cancel 5th February Andy & Lin Watson GlennS Paul McNulty New date Andy & Lin - 19th Feb or 4th March GlennS - 12th Feb, 26th Feb or 4th March Paul McNulty - Anything up to the end of March.

Just walked back from the pub, after seeing England get a jammy win over Scotland!

It's a bit worse out than it looks in the pic and it's coming down hard and fast now. Not ideal but personally I think we should postpone tomorrow now [:(]

Snowing well in Reading and I reckon its only going to get worse. Grounds well covered already. Decision here is that Jo and myself won't be coming as it seems the sensible option to take. Also a stated before driving for (at least) two and a half hours in dodgy conditions to stand in a freezing car park for any length of time does not appeal too much. Am very happy to come to a rescheduled event as it would be great for a proper meet up without the concerns of weather. We are free for the weekends 19th Feb (maybe), 26th Feb, 4th March, 11th March

No snow here [:D]. Andy nip round mine and take a pic of my car. Seriously reschedule for March I say.

Makes sense to cancel if people are coming a long way, except I will now have to spend longer at the Mother-in-Law's....[]

pretty heavy snow here in london, setteled good . Still no problemes for me but if we have to cancel then so be it. Though a meet under the snow would have been cool.

Just pretend it's still on [;)]
Good Idea! The Aviation forecasts are now saying that it will snow until about 5:00am and then there will be some sleet and freezing Fog...nice!

Leicester 5 min ago, its about 3" and deepening - cats are loving it! Forecast as Glenn says is consistent for more until the early hours, and then not pleasant. Vote to postpone, I would go as, a its not far and b I know the roads, but I dont think its sensible.

Just got back from a 2 hour walk in the snow (yes, we're lunatics)

Bear in mind the car is protected by the house. It's very thick out in the country...

Just been told a gritter has gone past with a large snow plow attachment on its front (could do with that for clearing our steep drive). Edited to add, just been out and in all seriousness my drive is going to need a good half hours shovelling and salting for me to drive to the top. I don't really think it's fair on the neighbours to make that much noise that early, so reasonable to assume I'm not going to make it (or at least not during the morning).
