New Year Gathering - Now 4th March, all welcome

hmmm... anyone else seen the weather forecast?
I looked at it today and it was chilly, but no snow or anything forecast? If it looks dodgy on the day please look out for a very distinctive Hiace van at South Mimms services!

I've seen the forecast. It could be unpleasant, however, at the moment the weather is all over the shop and the forecasters can't seem to get it right even 24 hours in advance so belief in their 5 day forecast is a strain. The road-salt problem is ever present at this time of year and my 944 was white after its run back from Derby last Saturday. A thorough going-over the underside with the power-washer once it is home will sort that out so it doesn't bother me too much. I will play things by ear and make my decision on the day. The 944 is on very summer tyres so depending on how bad things are I might a) A bit icy and a few flakes of snow = stick to main roads and motorways as opposed to my favoured back-roads route (so you might see me at South Mimms). b) A light covering of snow and ice = Take the old Golf as it has winter tyres fitted. c) Arctic conditions = reluctantly stay at home.

Well Glenn you have a point... the forecast has changed already (for the better [:)]). I suppose just sit tight and see what happens on the day. All I can say is going to a 944 meet in my wife's focus would be a bit depressing.

ORIGINAL: robdimond would be a bit depressing.
Yeah tell me about it! I'm coming in my daily driver and even my wife (who is not really into any of this car stuff) said 'Aren't you going to feel a bit weird going to a Porsche meet but not being in one?'

Mark , At least you can come in a Porsche whatever the weather! I thought you did very well to call in at Rutland "on the way" to Milton Keynes last year[:D]

Current forecast seems to be for heavy snowfall all over the place Saturday night (4" ?) which will possibly still be laying on Sunday. Not sure quite what the travel and/or 944 usage implications may be [&:]

Well for me it will depend on Sunday morning. No snow on the ground = 944 Some snow on the ground = Golf Lots of snow on the ground = stay at home

Forecasters only know that there probably will be snow somewhere. Where when and how much is anyone guess! If I think I can get to the main road I'll be there in something!

For me it's likely to be fine if I can get to the motorway. Getting out of the Chilterns isn't possible if there's too much snow, the 944 or the van are equally useless and Jane's using the Legacy with it's lovely new winter tyres! []
