Hi Matt. Did you take your little one over to France with you? If so what seat did you use may I ask?

He didn't come with us, but I did have to ferry him 75 miles from Cambridge to Southend. We use a Maxi Cosi Tobi seat (see pics) which tilts to give him a bit of an angle to sleep on. With it tilted back, there's not a hell of a lot of room in the front, with with it more upright my wife can sit in the front in relative comfort, and she's 5' 10". £130 from Kiddicare.

Great info - many thanks! Jake is nearly 6 months now, so is still sitting backwards in a Maxi Cosi Pebble. He'll soon be out of that though, I wonder if the base unit fits in the back of the 911 though as I dont think there are any ISOFIX mounts - hmmm, that's a point, what base are you using?

It just comes like that - it's kind of on a base, you run the belt around the base, up the side of the seat and around the head area, and it kind of locks in. Then you pull a little lever on the side (grey lever on the right of the pic below) and it pulls the belt around the base tight. Kind of hard to explain and it's a tight fit - fits better with the 997 seat squab in that it does without, and if you took the backrest off you might give yourself a bit more room - but it works.

Just signed up to PCGB - here's my brand new 997 Turbo S cab - collected in snow yesterday. Now parked in the garage requiring a wash! Hope the snow goes soon so I can get out and enjoy!![]

Thanks. Taking the £3,500 vat saving over getting it dirty wasn't a difficult one...!! Had a 997 C4S cab for past 2 years and surprised how very different this new one is, in the 40 miles the car has now done. It feels pretty awesome and I havent gone over 3k rpm yet. Not too sure on the whole white/red/yellow combo yet - seemed good in the showroom when I was putting it together with my youngest daughter. More west palm beach than west kent. Must be fun in the Cayenne for you at the moment?

Yup, 911 tucked up in the garage, Cayenne being used properly. Might even be pressed into service for the Christmas run this weekend if this weather continues. Need to see those interior shots though. sounds interesting!!

Wow - that is a fabulous looking car! I really love that colour. I first saw that on a 997 cab a couple of years ago the Stuttgart Zentrum OPC and in the flesh it looks even better.

Seats are really very comfortable. I'm comparing to my 2 yr old C4S cab that I traded in which had the usual sport seats with various memory functions. Admittedly only driven new one for an hour, but they are just fantastic and give a better position IMO. The seat backs are really nice black carbon weave in high gloss which look the biz also. Off down to Isle of Wight at weekend, so see whether I get further than Clacket Lane before a stops required[] snows gone, so wash time tomm!

Hi all....I'm new to the club, new to the forum and new to Porsche! I've previously owned a variety of BMW's and Merc's, most recently a C63 AMG and I'd never really considered a Porsche. Having never driven one I didn't really understand what all the fuss was about....could they really be that much better to drive than another decent premium car? Then, a few weeks ago I found myself with a buyer and a strong offer for my C63 but having tried a variety of different cars, in particular the Aston V8V, Maserati Granturismo S and that fast Datsun, I couldn't find one that I actually preferred to the C63! So, I finally decided to listen to what people were suggesting and go and try a Porsche....if only to see what all the fuss was about! And within minutes of driving my first Porsche I realised that I 'get it' - I understand what all the fuss is about, why the press seemingly drool over them and why I'm now the proud owner of a shiny (nearly) new Gen-2 997 Turbo. I'm in awe at just how much better this car is to drive than anything else I've driven - it's not so much the incredible performance but more the 'feel', the way all the controls (and especially the steering) have so much of it. I've owned it for a couple of weeks and ownership is just getting better by the day.....

Welcome Palmball They are wonderful cars and yours looks great, white seems to be very popular just now nearly as impressive as red ! Could you give us an idea of the spec. You need to join us on some of the 997 events next year and enjoy driving the car with like minded enthusiasts. Again welcome and I can confirm the smile does not go away !!

Thanks for the kind comments guys....I'll put on a full 'first impressions' review on the main part of the forum later. The car is manual (couldn't afford PDK - this was already 50% over my set budget....talk about 'overspending'!). I had gone to the dealer to look at a 2006/7 model but the Gen-2 in my mind was well worth stretching for. Indeed, it was the strong residuals which are in another league to anything else that I looked at that allowed me to get such a nice new model! Spec is OK...it has Telephone Module, Adaptive Sports Seats, Sport Chrono, Heated Seats, Carbon Interior highlights and Carbon Door Sills and 'those' RS Spyder Wheels. I'm not sure on the wheels and am considering a change to a set of GT2/3 wheels....they also have a centre locking nut which means I've got to get a very long and expensive torque wrench (I like removing the wheels to clean behind them and polish up the calipers....sad, I know). The car also didn't have cruise control so I've just had the retrofitted - I spend a lot of time on the motorway and found it was nearly impossible to keep it legal during the inevitable average speed-controlled 50mph sections you seem to get everywhere now. With regards to events/trackdays etc....this is one of the main reasons I joined the club so you will see me out and about. I also have a habit of going to the Nurburgring a few times every spring/summer and I think I'm going to love this car there. The C63 wasn't the best car round the 'ring....my favourite car so far for that purpose was the BMW M3 V8 that I had two years ago which felt like it was made for that place and I reckon the Porsche is going to be even better!
