New Carrera T Order

Good to hear it. Yes I have the issue of keeping the miles down due to insurance restrictions. I find the temptation to drive the car very difficult to resist. Off on the Manx Tour next month so that should be a fun few miles including the drive up and back during which I am going to try to leave the motorway as often as possible. Have you been over to Llandudno yet?

Haven't been to Wales yet. Porsches on the Prom at Llandudno is next month, but waiting to see if my girlfriend is free on that weekend...

The Manx Tour sounds fun!

Hi John, apologies for the delay,

missed your post with Club AGM obligations over the weekend.

We put another 340 miles on the T this weekend taking it up to the 800 mark.

I absolutely love this car.

I have now let 3 people who I trust and whose opinion I respect have a go in the car and each came away impressed. Two of them are seriously considering buying one - but it is no longer possible to order one to your own spec. There do seem to be a few stock cars available but specs vary...

I genuinely think this is quite a special car to drive. It is more than fast enough for road use, the quality is high, ride quality is good, handling and steering are excellent and there is just this overall feeling of being engaged with it. The excellent manual gearbox helps here despite what some reviewers have said. A few minor changes, some choice standard kit and a truly desirable package has been created. The technology works well and I got 35mpg which is fine for the performance on offer.

As can the case in life, sometimes less is more!

35mpg, Rob! [8|]

You're clearly running it in carefully! [;)]

I'm getting better mpg from my Carrera T than from my Macan 2.0 or my Panamera 4, but my fuel consumption figures might drop a little once I feel confident about venturing above 4,000rpm.

I agree it's a really special sports car and it sounds like the numbers built might be in the same region as how many 911Rs were built...

Actually, having just checked, my total mileage is now at 938.

Once 500 miles had passed and the car was fully warm, I did use most of the rev range available on occasions. I have tried hard to avoid short journeys as part of a running in process and will never rev it when cold as long as I own it.

My overall average MPG is 29.1 with an average speed of 46mph.

I think the average and variable speed limit cameras on the M6 / M40 / M42 all helped contribute to the good economy to and from the Clubhouse.

Hi Rob,

I'm on 1,037 miles, so not too dissimilar.

Also, averaging 49mph and 29.7mpg, so pretty similar numbers from our 'twin' Carrera Ts!

All figures are from the Porsche Car Connect app.

Cheers,

Simon

So, now we have moved back to the UK not 10 miles from Swindon, why have I not been buzzed by a Yellow monster? You been doing these miles on a rolling road Simon?

(The A338 from Hungerford to Burbage is MADE for 911's. Get to it)

Glad to hear you’re enjoying the new car too Rob. I have only seen one T (black) in the flesh so far but your photos show they look great in Racing Yellow.

Thanks, it is certainly very yellow but I do love it!

Simon, will be interesting to see how the figures match up with a few more miles... I am going to the Le Mans Classic in July and I think the car is going to be amazing :)

Loving reading your thoughts on your twin 'T's' but not so much loving hearing that you already can't order a new one, another short lived 911 model that will therefore remain out of the reach of mere mortals... :-(

There are currently 7 cars available on the Porsche website which I believe to be delivery mileage and list price. I am told that if you were to ring around, there may be some additional stock cars available at other Centres too but, yes, it is too late to order one to your spec. I took the plunge and ordered mine within 2 days of the model being announced last October.

I can only guess that Porsche intended to make more of them but the extended factory shutdown this summer has impacted on that? As I understand it, 992 production starts by late summer and the remaining 991s that do get built will not be Ts. Don't treat that as fact though!

Sounds like a great trip, Rob! Enjoy!

Hopefully our twin Ts will meet up one day - would make a cool photo. [:)]

I see that on the Porsche GB configurator, one can still 'build' a T. Although from a selfish point of view, the fewer that are made, the better for us T owners, speaking as one who is unlikely to ever be offered a slot for a new GT3 or GT4 etc... [;)] I had also heard that many of the last batch of 991s to be built will be GT cars...

It would be great to see the cars together. Why don't you head down to Gurston Down hillclimb in Wiltshire on Sat/Sun 26/27 May for a round of the Porsche Hillclimb Championship plus a lot of other cars going up the hill. There are a few of us going on the saturday if you are interested. Not far from you either Jim if you are only ten miles from Swindon!
