Museum trip and ring trip next year

So with the 'ring potentially closed for the Thursday, how feasible is it to switch the factory/museum visit to Thursday and 'ring on the Friday? Is there really enough time to take on board the Dinslaken Show and get to the 'ring for an evening drive on the Wednesday?

With my car back on the road after a year out I will be crapping myself of any impending doom! All I want to do is 1 -2 laps so I can take some pics, shoot some video and get the T Shirt!!

Are we planning on a factory tour as well as a the museum? Whats the chances of getting into Porsche Classic workshops?

I did send Friesinger Motorsport an email at the weekend to see if we could browse their works but no response yet.

So how many people are going to this now then ? Do we have numbers ?
How do you get in, is is a pay event ? Tickets before or on the gate ?

So far confirmed are

Totty
Frenchy
Paul Ruddy
Me

With a few of the Scottish lads hopefully confirming soon and Carrera RSR also a possible to confirm.

The Dinslaken tickets are €20 if per ordered and this includes 1 car and 2 people or if paid on the day are €25.

Once we have confirmed numbers I am happy to get the tickets ordered for us to save a few € and also make it easier for us to get into the show

If we leave Dinslaken around 3pm we can be at The Ring for 5pm (110 miles) this will give you plenty of time for a couple of laps if you want [:)]

I we can get a factory tour it would be good, but we need someone in PCGB to help us with this

You will have to hide your video camera until you are through the barriers.

If they see a camera mounted in the car they will either make you take it off of stop you going on the track altogether.

This actually the only thing they seem to care about.

944' and 968's on the ring.

This is what happens if you go too slow.

Lots of cars will over take you which means you have to drive off line causing you to go even slower. I love the two GT3's that over take me into Pflanzgarten.

Before you go for the first time do 50 to 100 laps on GT5 on the playstation it really does help. IT can't prepare you fully for the real thing but at least you will know which way the track goes. Most of us are not used to pulling 1g around every corner for 20km - you need to do that for a good lap time.

The first time I went I stayed in the Ringhaus a small hotel right next to the entrance of the Nordschleife. There were 12 cars in the car park the night before the track opened to the public. At the end of the day the Audi had blown its turbo, the TVR was towed off not sure what happen to it, the M3 crashed and was written off, which is bad enough but the track owners asked for 5,000 Euros to mend the armco! Fortunately our team (987, 911SC and an Aston V8 vantage) didn't have any problems.

The second trip last August was fantastic, incredibly hot weather. This time the Aston conked out on its 12th lap about 1 mile before the end of the lap fortunatley he rolled far enough towards the exit so we were able to go and push him off.

During our second visit there were at least 4 car wrecks and 2 bike crashes, I don't think one of the bikers survived the crash as they actually closed the track for a while which is unusual.

A few laps of the Nurburgring are likely to be the most exciting driving you will ever have but there is significant risk if it goes wrong.

My best lap was ~9:50, way too slow, the Boxster S can do ~8mins, I can do 6:50 on the playstation!

All this talk and chatter for months and only 5/6 are coming ! Thats a shame. A massive frontrunner convoy over would be brill. Are any TIPEC going too ?
