Museum trip and ring trip next year

Where is the hotel Steve ?
I'm not sure what Tref has organised for us lot yet...

Still no engine. Therefore before I cancel the hotel rooms, does anyone else need them as there is no time left to make this trip. Really pee'd off!!

Although I have my daily to make the trip, for me it was all about enjoying driving my car for the first time properly since the end of 2011. Fresh paint, fresh engine and all that. The engine is almost done and just needing an alternative oil pump to be delivered to the engine shop some time this week. That said it would be next weekend before I can prepare the engine for re fitting and the following week to fit and run for the first time. Time will be extremely tight to MoT, run in, re tune after running in, fix any installation gremlins and get the suspension properly geo'd for an 1800 mile round trip. The key issue is there's a lot of modified and uprated parts going into the engine which may not run as expected out of the box, especially maintaining a safe engine tune to avoid knock/detonation, so not something I'd want to risk on a long drive.

The hotels booked are as below. Double beds in all the rooms and booked for 2 people

Tuesday night - Tryp, Oberhausen - €167, no charge to cancel up to prior day of stay
Wednesday - Dorint am Nurburgring - €69, no charge to cancel up to prior day of stay
Thursday - ibis Stuttgart City - €47.20 pre paid. Can't see if this is cancellable with no charge, not a lot to loose anyway

Not too happy about bailing out to be honest but this hole still needs to be filled!

I have even considered trailering it over the key miles and getting it off trailer just for the key daily events. Something I'll still consider up to the last minute. The added cost of ferry with trailer would be offset with lower fuel cost of my daily even with a trailer on the back.

Sorry guys, I'm out. Engine is still on the bench this morning needing a replacement oil pump, cam follower adjusters and a few other parts to finish. It will be Friday at the earliest for the engine to be ready. Just no time left to fit and fettle to be reliable or legal. Gutted!!

Hotel rooms will be cancelled at the end of the week if anyone wants them prior to this.

[:(]

Sorry to hear this Steve but I think it's wise not to rush the install and set off 'overseas' with your fingers crossed.

I'm pretty sure Frenchy is after a second room at Stuttgart Ibis for his co-driver, I tried ringing him but the old fella must be having a lay in.

Cheers, Paul

Steve,
Sorry to hear this,it gives you time to get the old chugger [:D]ready for the LM Classic (2014) that we do every other year now (Bi Annual) as regards rooms drop me a pm with a contact number and suitable contact time, IBIS will not let me change room details and Mike Moore is now with me, also having problems with the Oberhausen and Nurburgring hotels changing details.
I have managed to sort the hotel at Boppard out.
Gutted for you but too much of a rush to get it ready...................there again there is always the trailer and a bunch of spanner men to fettle and adjust on hand [;)]

Sorry to hear this Steve [:(] but as Ruddy has said you don't want to be doing 1000+ miles as a shakedown in a foreign country!!

Get it ready for Classic Le Mans 2014 [:)]

Yeah real shame Steve, can't wait to see your car at the Classic next year, more cars & tents the better !!! [;)]

Last chance to take the hotel rooms before I cancel. All but the Ibis, Stuttgart will incur no charges to me. Ibis is already paid for with no refunds!!

Was Frenchy not having the rooms off you ?

Cheers, Paul

Awaiting confirmation from Frenchy re Ibis, he was waiting for someone else to confirm I think. I can forward all/any of the email confirmations if anyone needs them. So I don't forget and end up with no show charges I'd like to get these passed on or cancelled in the next 24hrs or so.

Steve, Sorry for not getting back cancel them, Mike Moore who is now coming as passenger is sorted, the only one we were having grief with was IBIS, he is just turning up and taking a chance, thanks for hanging on.
Get that car sorted for LM next year !!!

Have a great trip guys, I have 19 cars doing the same thing 10 days after you and I really can't wait.

Oh Martin, I finally managed to get our factory trip organised so we are already to go.
