Jason's garage day at Greg's on the 25th of August

What we do at the regional event in the New Forest is I hire the hearth and people bring what they want me to cook; the only thing I stipulate is NO MINCEMEAT! Hmmmm, leave it with me Baldrick I have a cunning plan.

ORIGINAL: ukmastiff Er except you know very well I don't have a 944 anymore , can't see many of you being interested in my small but growing collection of MG ZT's Lol If there had been a small group of folk in to this sort of thing in my area I'd probably still have a 944 TBH. I am quite in to my boys toys days and this is one of the reasons my car time all goes in to the ZT's now. Its much more fun working on your car and more so on your mates cars than standing on your own drive polishing a 944 on your tod hehehe Of course Tea and 'chocolate' is always a good draw [:D]
c,mom mas,,it would be really nice to see you and i can assure you that you will receive a much warmer welcome then the last place we turned upto on masse!lol,,,regards jason p

Hi Jason, Oli If you have room I would like to come along, don't know what knowledge I can bring, unless of course anyone is fitting Spax coilovers [:D]

It's Jason's party, not mine! Can't imagine he'd say no tho', particularly if you bring along some of those Spax Coilovers to fit to his S2 ... [;)] Biggest concern of mine at the mo is what the weather will be like. Wall-to-wall sunshine would make for a great day. Oli.

no probs,,andy,,,be very nice to meet you,,,regards jason p

I can solve the issue of getting a barbecue hearth to Epping, so it's all up to the weather. Attendees will need to bring along a couple of house bricks. I have about fifty here left over so we can cobble together and dry build a support for my built in barbecue hearth, which will go in the 944. Bring some Protein (as the Aussies call it) as bricks dont cook well. Typical things I cook on my bb are the three main food groups, fillet, sirloin and rump steak; toms, peppers, mushrooms, carrots, burgers, scallops, and bangers. Fish has to be wrapped in foli as it tends to stick to the griddle if it is a fillet. I confess to never having thrown a whole fish on the grill, but I'll give anything a go. One lettuce leaf between 10 should be enough shouldn't it?

great to see things are shaping up nicely..i have asked jim [tvrv8] and if able to,,, he will pop along in his boxster,,,hope the weather holds for us,,cheers jason p

a few weeks left ,,just thought i would give it a bump and a welcome to anybody who fancies it,,cheers jason p

ORIGINAL: zcacogp Whoah - this is getting better and better! Greg, it would be great to meet you. Yes, come along and lend a hand and bring some cake - all are very welcome. (I feel a bit of a fraud saying this as I am inviting people to Jason's party but Jason won't mind, I'm sure!) John, that's an interesting idea. Where would you need that BBQ carted down from? (Where is R19?) Would it go in the boot of a regular 944? It sounds like something that big would probably be more suited to catering for large numbers of people, so would it be do-able with a smaller bit of kit? Having someone knocking up some grub in such a way would give quite a different feel to the day - it would move it on from a grubby day spent twirling spanners to something infinitely more sophisticated. Jason, do you think this would work? (BTW John I do float on water but won't be giving demonstrations on the day. Sorry.) Smiffy, thanks for changing the thread title. Are you coming along? I really think you should ... we may need some moderating during the day and you are an excellent moderator ... [;)] So, names; Jason ChasR Mas Edd Oli Peter (ExSkyline) John (924nutter) Greg Smiffy Oli.
hiya,,just thought i would give this a bump for next sunday,,i am aware a few people have church commitments so i was thinking of 12pm onwards? hope that sounds ok for everyone and looks like the weather could hold! [touching wood!!],,went is the best time to mail my postcode? jason

Thanks for the bump Jason. I'll probably be with you a little after 12.00pm, but I expect people will drift in and out as they choose. I have a job I will do while I am there (changing rear brake disks and pads) but it shouldn't take all afternoon. What jobs do other people want to do and are there any tools anyone will want to borrow? I'm probably going to bring the following; Jack Stands Torque Wrench 3/8inch and 1/4inch socket sets Collection of nuts and bolts Hammer Grease WD40 Screwdrivers Would it make sense to get an idea of jobs other people will be tackling so we can get a bit of a plan for the afternoon? (Or am I being too over-organised about this all and I should shut up? [&:] ) Oli.

Jason did you say you were going to pm me? Nothing in my inbox! Mind you I had no internet access from about noon Thurday until late Sat evening. New router didn't fix it. Previous system was a brand newwireless router piggy backed on to a cable router, that suddenly went off line, and the new router mysteriously came back on line while I was working in the garden.

john,,yes did pm you last week, not to worry, will do so again shortly and sorr no i dont have a wheelbarrow but our gardener does so i could ask him,,,,

better ask if he minds lighting a barbecue in it then lol. You take the wheel off so you don't melt the tyre. Been there done that!

wheelbarrow is a no-no,so i think with the help of foresight i have decided to forget about the barbie and keep it simple,,but thanks very much for the offer john. we have a great jewish bakers locally and i can nip off and get fresh "out of the oven" biegals with fillings, ,i will provide tea, coffee, and lots of cold drinks so people can just bring themselves and their spanners,,,cheers jason

No BBQ? [:(] Jason, it's your call! I can understand why you may be a bit hesitant about a BBQ, given where you live and how 'pristine' everything is. Don't sweat it too much about the catering arrangements. Oli.

thanks oli,,yeah thats the problem, sure people will see what i mean when they arrive but it might be a tad impractical to barbie and could be a problem although i cant see why? but thats what was put to me in a very in-direct way so i will "tow the line" on this one,,,
