GTS ordered

Thanks, I did test drive a Cayman T which had the standard setup and found these quite comfortable. Really good point about weight. I have 14 way in my 911 and you are right I never touch the adjustments now. Guess it's nerves trying to make sure I get it right. Appreciate the input.

We switched from 718 Cayman GTS 2.5 turbo manual (2018) to 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 manual.

The biggest difference is obviously the naturally aspirated engine, the suspension is sublime. Our old 718 had the lowered PASM sport suspension by 10 mm, which is now standard on the new GTS 4.0. You can opt it out of your spec.

The standard GTS 4.0 is 20mm lower than a normal Cayman but if you opt for Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) incl. ride height lowered it means that the car is actually 10mm higher than the standard GTS 4.0 and not, as it implies, 10mm lower. The option says For slightly added driving comfort and ground clearance, the standard “PASM sports suspension (20 mm lowered”) is replaced with “Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) incl. ride height lowered by 10 mm” for no extra charge. With this option the ride height of the GTS 4.0 models rises compared to the standard set-up.

Did you go for the option on yours or not ?

Hi Mike, I know, how confusing, it is the other way round now! 😆

Our car is an ex-demo, so we did not spec it. It does have the "comfy" PASM option, i.e. it is 10 mm higher than the standard set up on the GTS 4.0. We got caught out by it, because on the 718 GTS 2.5 turbo the lowered suspension (PASM Sport Suspension) was an extra option, which we ticked. We thought it was the same with the 4.0 l since this option was ticked on the spec sheet given to us. We just assumed, wrongly and did not read the configurator properly.

However we like it nonetheless, we only drive on the roads, not tracks so it is perfect for us. We like the extra bit of ground clearance on inclines and speed bumps. And the stiffer setting is also more useable on the road with the PASM Suspension (rather than PASM Sport Suspension).

Hope it all makes sense.

 
I have just ordered mine specifically with the "10mm lower" option as I actually wanted it slightly softer as it won't be tracked and I think its more suited to road use. Great to hear that you like that setting ....

Interestingly the USA configarator for the same option (and code 475) says Raised ride height of 10mm in relation to the standard -20 mm suspension. The stiffer anti-roll bars are replaced with softer 718 GTS anti-roll bars which to my mind is a lot clearer and the UK version doesn't say anything about the ARB - quite confusing .......

 
Oh yes, that's a much more informative description on the US configurator!

In our old 718 GTS 2.5 turbo, we never used the stiffer setting of the PASM Sport Suspension, we found it too harsh for the road use.

So to us, it's a plus having the softer PASM.

Good call on the cofigurator for 10mm, was wondering about that. Can't seem to find body coloured air ducts on the list either. Anyone spec'd that as well? So many questions, thanks.

It went into the Body shop (CP0.0) yesterday !!! Delivery likely second week in June

Not available on the GTS 4.0 (but still on Cayman and S) - already booked into local bodyshop for body colour painting ....

 
Very nice :) ... I've got a 2L 718 and love it ... so I can only imagine that the GTS is incredible... they look lovely as they have a few extra body design touches which I really like + that engine is going to be so so so strong. Congratulations :)

What colour did you go for?

Thanks, hopefully it will be worth the wait, gone for the metallic white after much deliberation :)

 
Oooo very nice - will look nice with the contrast from the black splitter at the front and the side air vents. Again congrats mate - that’s going to be a rocket 🙂

Should be quick :) Yep was playing about with colours and also added the black door handles and gloss black calipers so should look good. Just need it to be built.

Any more thoughts on the -20mm ride height on the GTS or opt out and go for PASM with -10mm? Not driven a GTS so have no idea. My 911 has PASM which I rarely use.

Might be a bit late but I drove the GTS with the standard -20mm PASM set up and for me was right when in sport mode, you can always use deselect when on some harsh roads but find the nice ones and you won't regret it I'm sure.

The car taught but wasn't teeth shattering by any stretch, looking at the car too the ride height looks the part.

 
In my view, after 9,300 miles in my GTS4.0 the standard -20mm PASM is just about perfect. No problems with grounding, the ride is extraordinarily good for a sports car. The normal past setting is ideal for just about all road use and the sports setting works well on track.

I think the higher -10mm setting would be a big mistake, there's no need for it and you would risk losing some of the sharpness and precision that makes the GTS4.0 such a delight to drive.

 
All signed off today, build completion should be 29th September so hoping for mid to late October delivery, fingers crossed.
