GTS ordered

Ask your OPC to send you a screen shot of the build timeline. This will give you an indication it’s expected to enter and exit each area. It’ll also give you an actual date once completed.

the timeline will also show the expected date it will leave the factory. After that date it becomes a bit vague as its in the hands of the logistics company.

This is what your build schedule should look like

Dan,

What’s interesting about your build schedule is that as far as I’m aware 718 Caymans are built in Osnabrück in northern Germany. It looks as though they’re then transported south to Kornwestheim near Zuffenhausen in southern Germany after which they’re again transported back to northern Germany to Emden for shipment to the UK. Maybe they’re shipped back to the factory for final inspection, etc.? Having said that, my 987.2 CS was built in Finland by Valmet and the same procedure applied … not exactly efficient! 😀

Your VIN will indicate where your car was built. Position 11 I think gives the factory code: S for Stuttgart and K for Osnabrück.

Jeff

That’s interesting Dan; although the Stuttgart line is flexible and can produce all the sports cars, and 718 Boxsters are always built there. Maybe Porsche has rationalised production owing to pandemic restrictions and supply problems?

Jeff

Could be but mine‘s a 2020 build and there were no supply issues then, just the factory closure due to Covid so they may well have shifted production to Stuttgart and mothballed the Osnabrück site at the time.

I think they vary production location as and when. I have an early 2020 GT4 built in Osnabrück, OliR has a late 2020 car built in Stuttgart.

Hi Dylan, I've spec'd the shark blue (aka VW Cornflower Blue, same paint code apparently!) so not eclusive as Porsche made out! However, it looks craking. Out of interest, which dealer was that pic taken?

Cheers Ken

Shark is great in the flesh, and it's similar to the blue you see on some Toyota Aygos and new BMWs. It's a very popular colour at the moment for good reason.

My wife's Focus RS is Nitrous Blue - aka "British Gas Van" Blue :ROFLMAO:

I had a feeling it was (looked very familiar to my old VW Polo TSI in cornflower blue). I loved the colour and the idea of having a Cayman in the same tone is spectacular!

I agree, it does look good. I'm just not sure why Mr GT had to make out he spotted the colour on some old super yacht whilst lounging on a beech which influenced the colour for the GT3 launch! I guess he's justifying the cost option![:D] call it what you like, great colour.

Maybe Mr GT had an issue with the hob on the yacht and got a visit from a "British Gas Van" [:D]. Put one and one together and voila - you end up with the new GT3 being a British gas van in disguise...

That’s a bit pants. Doesn’t tell you anything.

ask him for a screenshot of the tracking page of your build. You should get the info as in my previous post. It would also be worth asking him to send you the same screenshot when it’s updated.

So, had this through today. Doesn't seem to have made much progress but at least I have comething to stick on my empty garage wall :)

So it looks like your car was scheduled for build on the 24th Sept but is now going into build on the 8th Oct. Once the build is complete (CP8) the dealership should be able to predict when it will arrive with them. Give them a week to PDI and you'll have your baby. The only sticking point is when it arrives in the ports of Emden and Sheerness. The former due to when a boat comes into dock and the latter on vehicle logistics from Sheerness to your dealership. A point to note is that they won't put your car on an 8 car transporter unless they have other cars going to your dealership or others close by.

Personally I'd wait until the 8th and ask for another update.

I have a Cayman GTS on order too. Was scheduled for November build and just heard today that it will be a January build for February delivery. In which case I’ll likely wait to register on a ‘22 plate. Seems like a fairly common issue, not just for Porsche. Hopefully the delay will make the delivery and driving experience all the sweeter!
