GTS 4.0

Going back to the configurator today, I was greeted with a short message that the base price of the GTS 4.0 has just risen by £1,310. I couldn't spot any changes in the standard spec from before, so I presume Porsche will simply state it's the effect of inflation. I ordered last month from Bournemouth OPC and am currently expecting delivery in autumn 2022 or early 2023, so wouldn't be surprised to see another price hike before then too. I'll clearly have to shop around for a better savings interest rate in the meantime!

 
Just had the call from my dealer principle. To say I have a allocation with a build slot in August

thought this day was never going to come at least I now know I will get a car. Pity I may not see the car till late September or even October. So would be going straight into garage until spring.

 
Glenn, fab news for you, not long to firm up your spec now! mind you have only had more than a year to Hone it into shape, Look forward to seeing the car.

 
The massive question now of course is just when the bubble will burst. Watch the news to see the doom and gloom. The down turn is on its way. Does that mean that the wait list is going to shorten. Of corse it does. Best thing is to buy what you want, when you want and enjoy it.

My Mecan is close to delivery and I don’t give a shit that its value will drop. Thats what cars do.

Great news Glenn. But please don't put it away.. They are marvellous cars to drive through the winter. Heater, hat and gloves on, bright winter's day, clear empty roads, some of the best days driving ever are in winter.

Just a update from OPC. Have been given 7th October as a delivery date with end on July to lock my spec

Have already bought my zunsport grills and cargraphic exhaust valve controller.

Excellent news Glenn. Sadly just a week too late for you to bring it on the R7 WOTY or MOTY to help get it run in.

 
If its not too late, I would strongly recommend the parking cameras and ventilated seats.

I didn’t select them on mine and in hind sight believe it to be a mistake.

I have them on he New Mecan I picked up last week and think they are well worth having.

 
Excellent news, and very very jealous. Put our deposit down for a GTS 4.0 about a month ago and being told by our OPC that it's likely Q4 2023.....

 
I've just been invited to the experience day at Silverstone, with the earliest available date to drive the model being in November. Given that I ordered in October last year, based on Glenn's timings, I presume I'll now be looking at late Q1 next year for a build slot. That suits me fine, although there are increasing rumours of a new Boxster next year now. However, in the latest Porsche Post it simply referred to a suspected RS, rather than an entirely new / updated model range. If it's confirmed that a new version will indeed come out in 2023, I might then look to switch to it, even though that would mean waiting longer. I fully expect that whatever I buy will prove to be my last-ever (new) ICE car, so I'd like it to be particularly memorable, and I would probably then keep hold of it for far longer than my normal 2-3 year period.

 
Wait, there's a new Boxster coming....? I thought after the GTS 4.0, the next Boxster/Cayman would be the electric version.....

 
Yes. Next 718 will be electric however they are releasing a Spyder RS and most probably some special editions from the Porsche parts bin.

Thanks Dan, I knew about the electric, hence why I've put a deposit down on the GTS 4.0, I really don't want electric unless I really, really have to.

I"m intrigued to see a Spyder RS, but considering getting a regular Spyder is like finding rocking horse poo, I'll stick with my GTS order.

Just had another up date from OPC, to say further delays on most models and can not say when I will get my car.

To make maters worse the price will go up if there is another price increase. To say I am sick and tired of the whole process is a understatement.

 
My car does not have climate and only AC, what I find is I have AC off more which means more power and more mpg, I just turn AC on if it's hot, which in the UK is not often esp when most times my roof is off! Climate you set and forget I guess which mean it's always on. This is on a Ragtop ofcourse. I would always spec climate if ordering, but don't really miss it on my Spyder for the above 2 reasons.

 
Not surprised you're getting fed up with it Glenn, I've been told end of '24 but it sounds like when you ordered they either weren't very honest or weren't aware of just how long it was going to be...

 
Just noticed on the configurator yet another price increase of £700 this time only 8 weeks after a £1300 rise

I think Porsche are really taking the p--- now
