North/South

Just seen Tracy's email about stepping down. Its a real shame that the club is basically imploding itself with its decisions. I for one have already decided not to renew my membership this year. I rejoined last year just before getting the Spyder hoping that the political landscape had improved... but that's just got worse. I just think some of the club is stuck in the stone age a bit, same events as being done 10 years ago, year after year ... there were less drives out with the local region than there used to be and I frankly got bored at the club meets as they were full of presentations rather than catching up with like minded friends so stopped them last summer.

I sadly didn't get to do any Boxster Meets for one reason or another, plenty to choose from just a lot of conflicting dates with other stuff I had going on. That's one thing you've done / did better than anyone else was get out and about. I don't read the magazine so the only benefit I got in the last year was the Porsche Parking at Goodwood FoS.

Hi Michael.
Not a decision taken lightly but its untenable with the current Boxster register situation.
Its a rather forced decision, its a sorry
state for both Tracy and the members especially as its the 30th year of the Boxster.
Many feel the way you do Michael and I applaud you for your words and support.
Tracy has put her heart and soul into the Register she has included every model including Spyders and personaly made people welcome , members don't know the half of what she has endured.
Even the Mailchimp you all received written by herself has been edited.
Says it all really.
Cheers Cliff.

Dear Tracy & Cliff,

I just want to say a huge thank you for everything you’ve given over the last 15 years. That’s an extraordinary commitment, and the time, energy and care you’ve put into Boxster Register has meant more than words can properly capture.

You’ve created not just events, but friendships, memories and a real sense of community that stretches far beyond the cars themselves.

So many of us have benefited from your dedication — often without fully appreciating just how much work goes on behind the scenes.

I can only imagine how difficult this decision must have been, especially after everything you’ve invested in the register and the club will hopefully come to regret the position they put you guys into sooner rather than later

Please know how valued and respected you are, and how grateful we all are for what you’ve built.

Whatever comes next, I hope it brings you as much enjoyment as you’ve given to others over the years.

With sincerest thanks and very best wishes to you both

Rob

Tracy, Very sorry to hear this sad news, I had heard rumours on the Tom toms about you standing down 😢 @ the moment the club appears to heading in one direction, that’s darn Sarth as usual.
You will always be welcome up North @ some reet good events 😀 Take care, & thanks for all your hard work over so many years.

Hi Tracy & Cliff,

Since our chat last year, this news hasn’t really come as a surprise. I just want to say a huge well done to you both—not only for all the hard work you’ve put into the club, but for the friendships you’ve built and the great times you’ve created for so many people through your events. It also takes real courage to put yourselves first and make the decision to move on when something no longer feels right.

It’s sad to see how much the club has changed, and not for the better in my eyes or in the eyes of many members. That said, the friendships you’ve made will last a lifetime, and I’m really looking forward to catching up with you both again at an event in the future.

I’d also like to wish Frank all the very best with his decision, and I hope to see him at an R10 event sometime soon.

Wishing you all the very best,

Kindest regards,
Andy

Hi Cliff,

Unfortunately, I came to the conclusion that I did not want to continue being associated in an official capacity (Board and Register Secretary) with certain decisions being made by the board and the direction they are pushing through. Was not an easy decision to take as feeling like I am letting down members but just cant have my name associated with these decisions.....

All the best,
Franck
Hi Franck,

Sorry but to clarify, have you stepped down from the Board as well?

I’ve not really weighed in on this topic so far on the basis that while I’ve had Boxsters for nearly 20 years I’ve found most of my club time favoured towards my local region as opposed to the register. But I have read all of the comments on this thread and it seems to me that that Tracy and Cliff’s resignations were inevitable based on the approach the Board appears to have adopted.

While I do on occasion disagree with some the views that some people have on this situation I do find it difficult to understand why the Board has chosen to resolve an issue where I’m not clear what the issue is and why it needed to be resolved in the first place. I’m also not clear why there is a reluctance for even limited open discussion with the respective Director so that they can clarify their position and address relevant concerns.

Without wanting to repeat myself, this is another example of the current Board’s inability to communicate effectively with the wider membership in a meaningful and inclusive way so that any doubts or concerns were taken off the table.

Based on recent history I have doubts as to the likelihood of any official response to this situation and should I be proved wrong I have doubts on the substance of that response.

But I will say this, if you are the responsible Director, what exactly is the point of you having the role if you’re not doing anything demonstrably visible to prove your suitability to maintain that role?

This gets more confusing due to a lack of facts from the Board.
This is a poor situation, 15 years 'in the job' in a club that has been up-and-down from my view, maybe the Board think this is a good way to go forward?

Clear communication is a skill, and one expected of a Board of Directors.

What is going on?
I've been a club member since 1989 and have seen a few upsets along the way, but based on the few facts I know (if any) this seems an action that was not required.
All a bit ridiculous.

I am afraid the car club feel has slowly been eroded over the last 18 months Peter.
The enthusts camaraderie has almost gone.

That friendly community especially what Tracy brought to so many Boxster members has been ruined just to satisfy the egos of a small minority to many bad decisions have been made in my view.

The direction this club has taken is not good but only my opinion as a 30 year member
Members Volunteers don't seem to have any say anymore .
I think some of this club lacks people skills .
Only my opinion of course.

.............. or perhaps just use good communication and common sense.

Its a car club after all not a PLC.
Yep I get that and don’t disagree in theory but something is definitely broken and perhaps we need to think a bit more radically in order to fix it.

But while it’s definitely a car club it’s also a Million pound business and without good governance and accountability of the management whoever they may be it could all go south very quickly.

Sorry but I just don’t believe that hope and optimism is the best solution.
