North/South

This current board has learnt nothing.
They are continuing the North South divide for only the Boxster Register
Seeking a new RS for the North.
When will they learn 2 Register Secretarys
Does not work .
Trust us we tried.
Glad to be out of the Register but not for the members which we have had great fun and there support and company over the years
Its been a pleasure.

its the only Register that seems to have issues for some strange reason
with the people in charge.
All the best .

Only my humble opinion of course.

I think that the friendly, enthusiastic Porsche community is still there, but it has been swamped by the growth in the non-active membership and also by the corporate approach that the club is taking. For example, our relationship with Porsche GB is a marketing one. Yet in so many areas Porsche seem to be shooting themselves in the foot when it comes to caring about their customers. Partly that has to do with the model range expansion into SUV's and EV's, and partly due to the affordability of the cars with personal leasing. Different types of buyers. Then you have the unobtanium nature of GT cars. Basically the enthusiast owner is a much smaller proportion and this is reflected in the Club as well. The vast number of club members seeem happy to have a membership card and a magazine.

So, 15 years ago we had an 'analogue' club where I high proportion of members were enthusiastic about their cars and wanted to meet others similarly infatuated. We still have those. But now we also have lots for whom the purchase of a Porsche is all about the badge, or it is an investment commodity, or simply just a comfortable family wagon. Having said that, there are those who would like to join the Porsche community, especially the online one, who don't actually have a Porsche at all. They just want to talk about them

Like everything else in life, it's all getting more complex, whether we like it or not. The trick is to identify the things that we value, and have a clear idea how to nurture and develop them. I am afraid that our current leadership appears to be fumbling around in the dark and banging into too many conflicting interests. The north south split of the Boxster register is a good example. Nobody seems to have a clear view of why it was done, or what objective was being persued. I would assume that this would need to be sorted out in order to recruit a successor to Tracy.

... and re: Porsche, seems that they also have a real problem as the Boxster/Cayman [EV] replacement has been pushed back to 2027 leaving an 800 car hole in the retail group 2026 sales alone.

I think John above has given a good thought to all this.
Ive been ‘here’ since 1988 when I bought my 73T 911 wreck to rebuild and hillclimb.
The club was all about enthusiasts with the 911 at its heart.
I even wrote 5 articles about my adventures with the 911 in Porsche Post.

How it has all changed.

I now have all that enthusiasts spirit over on the DDK forum which is very enthusiast based for many of the Porsche cars, with lots restoring and simply maintaining their own cars.

I have a 987.2 Boxster for the last 10 years and a purpose built hillclimb car with a fat 911 engine since 2008. Of course I still have the 911 too.

The club really has little to do with my Porsche world, the whole base has changed, but I still want to be part of the club even though I feel right on the edge of the current clubs aims. Though I’m not sure what that actually is, United by the Drive lost me and still does.
I hope greater clarity will appear soon Or I am simply not part of the new direction at all!
The Boxster section should have been left in straight forward leadership, not split.

Simple is always best.
