North/South

I received an email re splitting the Register on a geographical basis. What was the thinking and objectives?

Are there now two separate registers?

Was any consideration given to a more granular structure as North and South are both huge areas if the objective was to be closer to Boxster members.

Hi Ralph
It was a board decision to make the split and I am still waiting to hear officially where the divide will be. I presume it will be 50/50 or as near as.
I will continue to assist all of my members who I have served over the years with tech news , etc so please don’t hesitate to contact me or my team as in the past.
Thanks
Tracy

Without getting geographically political, it doesn't seem an equitable split.

Some 3000 members make up the Boxster register, so to Tracy's point you would hope for a fair split.

Yet it would seem that South gets 2230 members and North is just 705. Someone has forgotten NI and the Channel Islands too.

Hi Nick
I hope this is not the case. I’m still waiting for communication and confirmation from the board.
I did ask the question last week but still waiting for their reply.

I would have thought a better way would be NO split but appoint a Southern based Assistant ......

Indeed you would have thought so Des, wise logic from a long standing member of PCGB who understands how a car club should be run.
Our two Technical assistants are both in the South

I would hope that the now two registers can work alongside each other - and any events, meets etc. would be advertised and available to members of either register - just because I live in Kent doesn't mean I wouldn't consider a weekend away for an event in Yorkshire for example.

As a member/participant, aside from any comments on the way this has come about, I am hopeful that the result will be positive.

Hi Paul.
Tracy will continue to serve members all over the UK as will our Technical team we have never discriminated location or model if you know her many will agree.
Although events are more for Regions she has done 4 in the South and 2 in the North this year already along with attending other Porsche events.
Mail Chimps on events or news should go out to the whole of the country
Only fair as you say your not adverse to travel .
Only thing I can add from experience a North/South divide of the 991 reg never really worked out.
As been said above if necessary maybe a South assistant baffles me why we have only moved more North recently don't see what location has to do with a Register
But as said our aim is always to put members first.

I have never seen an issue with events or response to questions etc. Because it's a national register (not a regional one) any given event will always be "a long way from someone" , and having been involved in the running of a club in several roles many years ago I know that it's hard work and that you won't ever please everyone - ever. So I extend my thanks to all those involved. As I said, I hope it will be positive and "better", but lets see.

As a register member , I think that perhaps a survey or some input gathering from membership would have been appropriate.

That said. and now speaking , perhaps selfishly, as a member, and I realise this is unsolicited, but I don't actually "care", if as above, it turns out positive. Also, personal opinion, I think that some of the posts on Facebook and the sub text of some of the messages on here are deliberately negative and feel its airing internal (to the club organisation) challenges and differences of opinion. From the luxury viewpoint of a "consumer", I think that tarnishes the club, and more importantly undermines the huge amount of work and effort that all the officials, volunteers and staff put in, which is a crying shame.

As always, just opinion, and no more or no less valid than anyone else's.

Hope everyone impacted and involved can navigate it to their satisfaction.
