2016 World Endurance Championship - Report

News from the 2016 World Endurance Championship 6 hours of Silverstone

Glorious sunshine straight from London warmed the R20 members who headed to Silverstone for the opening round of the 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship; keen to see the new seasons cars in action and hoping for Porsche’s success. The Porsche Club GB infield parking soon filled up with over 500 members displaying their Porsches along the old circuit and enjoying the ‘Clubhouse on the Road’.  A great chance to catch up with fellow London region members as we watched the racing.

With Porsche taking an early lead with car #1, before it left the track in dramatic style; the #2 car fought back bravely swapping the lead with the remaining Audi right to the very end with Audi taking the flag just 9 seconds ahead of the Porsche #2 after six hours great racing.

However, post-race scrutineering found that the winning Audi car did not comply with the rules and was disqualified promoting the #2 Porsche to the top spot.

A perfect warm up for Le Mans 24.
