Rutland Water 944 Meeting

Over the past few years we have had a meeting early in the year at Rutland Water, near Stamford in Lincolnshire.

This year it is to be Sunday 7th April at 11:30 through to around 2:00.

My apologies for the late notice, arrangements with Anglian Water have taken longer than anticipated and confirmation was not received in time for Porsche Post.

The location is:
Rutland Water Park
Bull Brig Lane
Whitwell
LE15 8BL

Once through the car park barrier head straight on, then turn left through the gate, signed for the “Rutland Belle”. We will be parking on the field to the right.

It is a very relaxed affair, enjoy the drive there, only a few miles from the A1. Rutland is a lovely county to the meeting point at Rutland Water, the largest manmade body of water in Europe when constructed in the 1970s and a 20 odd mile round trip by road.

Simply park up with other 944s, have a chat and a coffee or snack at the onsite café and drive home again. However, I would recommend taking a trip to the other car parks around the lake and seeing the half-flooded church or hop on the Rutland Belle for a floating tour.

The car park costs up to £6.00 for the day or £3.00 for 3 hours. While the café is not cheap (it’s a tourist venue…) is a decent quality.

Some groups meet up at various venues and convoy to the meeting point, see the 944 Forum for details.
In some previous years, I have led a convoy from Peterborough Services on the A1 through some minor roads, to the site, but I can’t unfortunately do that this year.
