No firsthand knowledge but any part numbers on the box that you sent them? Perhaps it doesn't have an H&P system?

The Car ECU is under the Passenger seat and the Alarm module is under the drivers seat.

Do you have a Porsche factory alarm?

Graham

Yes, I believe so, I though all 993 had a UK alarm system from Hamilton and Palmer. When I sent the alarm box I included the remote keys and Hamilton and Palmer said the remote keys are made by them.

Tne early ones had the chip fob you have to to put in a hole on the dash then there is the PA1000 & PA2000 Alarms with the Keyfob with 2 buttons

Graham

Mine is a 1996 Targa with the PA 1000 Fob!

The chip fobs are not made anymore I think! Maybe the alarm location is different with yours then

This week in accordance with a Bentley workshop manual I removed the driver's seat and removed the alarm box and sent it to Hamilton and Palmer for testing. Hamilton and Palmer have advised that it is not their alarm system. So the question is where in the car is the Hamilton and Palmer alarm circuit board? Jim, the guru at Hamilton and Palmer will not be in until next Wednesday so I cannot ask him.

That's the part number for the Porsche factory alarm. Do you have any sort of remote that you use to unlock the car, either as part of the key or separate to the key?

The chip for the receptacle in the dash is for an immobiliser.

The alarm card is in the folder for your car. It's a white Porsche alarm card with the number on it that allows a new fob to be created. If you can't find the card, either Hamilton and Palmer or some OPC can read your existing fob to get the code. I ordered both a new fob and the immobilizer socket about two month ago from H&A. About 50 pound each, very helpful and arrived within a couple of days. Indistinguishable from the originals.

Sorry we seem to have got away from what I need. I need to know where in the car the Hamilton and Palmer alarm circuit board is located. Have now changed the heading on this Forum to include the words circuit board.

The fact that you found a Porsche original alarm box in the location used for the H&P alarm makes me think the H&P alarm was never fitted to your car.

Is it a C16 car (code for UK)?

As the H&P circuit (it's in a box) was added once UK cars got to UK* I guess it's possible they were hidden in a variety of different places depending on the fitter who did the job. Like others have said, experience is that most are under the (right hand drive) driver's seat. Mine is.

*PS - anyone know if these were fitted by local dealer or be Reading?

Yes it is a C16 car, From investigation it may be that the H&P alarm is an add-on to the Porsche alarm to meet the additional alarm requirements of the 1990's but expectation was that it should be under the driver's seat. It is not. As you say it's possible they were hidden in a variety of different places, depending on the fitter involved. This week I will refit the driver's seat and take out the passenger seat and hopefully find the H&P circuit board.

However I would love to know whether the Porsche Alarm should be in the car if a H&P alarm is fitted.

As per Mark Elder above, Does anyone know, when the cars were new, if H&P alarm was fitted by local dealer or by Reading?

I contacted the OPC at Reading and they checked the records and have stated that a PA2000 alarm was fitted to cars of my era and that the control unit will be under one of the seats.

Thanks Maurice

I stand to be corrected, the number on the box under the drivers seat is 928 618 260 03. I have talked to H&P and they will test their box when I remove it from under the Passenger seat. The alarm is misfiring, flashing indicators and no siren (according to H&P this is not possible if the circuit is working correctly).

Unfortunately I am undergoing a medical procedure on my back, next week, so working on the car will be delayed for some weeks.
