Never have i know it this quiet,,,,,
i dont know if its about a lot of 944s being bought to be kept in garages as they continue to go up,,,,
or people are not happy about certain things that occured in the last while,,,,
but its dead as a dodo at the moment with all the regular posters "missing in action" and a very small group of his still posting,,,,
Very sad and i hope not a sign of things to come,,,,,

Hence the reason I don’t get to come On here lately.....
Im a true 944 nut and always have been and if you ask my wife she will tell you as ive owned one from the age of 17 and 37 now and it nearly came between us in my 20s as I was constantly spending money on the bloody thing which pushed me to buying another which was my much Loved turbo that I am rebuilding the engine on today..
i very much look forward to meeting you guys at one of your meets so I can only speak for myself and this is my short answer to why I’ve been a little quite on here.
Hoping to buikd the engine gibe this year and I miss it incredibly as I’ve been withought it for a few years now and I can’t explain how much I miss it every day believe it or not even though I drive other vehicles, nothing comes close! ??

Forums like this still have the edge if you're after technical advice, I think, but the fun/random chat threads seem to have gone elsewhere.

More chance searching Rennlist since Jon Mitchell found other interests.

I was thinking more of the threaded format that you get in forums, rather than any particular knowledge to be found here.

Roger wasn’t / isn’t responsible . He is not everyone’s cup of tea but very knowledgeable and active, stood up for himself and was bullied by the clique mentality referred to and the pompous snowflakes who don’t understand what a forum should be about. .. hardly surprising it’s dying slowly .
sorry .. has to be said.

Some here will, I am sure, have fond memories of Titanic (the email list not the film). It was once the lynch pin of the 944 community but went the way of its nautical namesake some years ago when this forum really took over.
As some have noted, the integrated nature of Facebook and the like means people can get their 944 fix without having to log into a forum. I still prefer fora as (also noted above) the ability to search and retrieve information is much greater.
With any group there tends to be a core of chums who create the nucleus apron which others bind. With regret, with many of the "Old Guard" less involved, if at all, the current forum no longer seems to have critical mass (plenty of criticism but not what I mean). It has been less able to ride the few storms it has encountered recently and isn't helped by the clunky nature of the forum where we have to keep re logging in.
I also think the 944 community has diversified and perhaps the Boxster community is more akin to what we once were. "Back in the day" the 944 was a hidden gem which offered outstanding performance on the cheap. Little could touch a 944 £/bhp/grin, parts were readily available, and not especially expensive. It was a cheap performance car. It is now neither of those things by comparison to many other offerings available.
There are fewer 944s on the road. Few are used as daily transport like they were. They now require a completely different mindset to own and run compared to a Hot Hatch. Ten years ago that wasn't the case. The 944 hasn't slipped into the category that we might have considered an E Type Jag a few years ago but it is nearer that than track day/fast road tool of choice.
