Hi Marc,
I read your column in Porsche Post last night - the evolution of your car sounds excellent-it would make a great article, with supporting photos.

I have a couple of questions: are the Cup 3 wheels on your car the same width for the front and the rear, and is the offset 52,3?

Where did you get your seats retrimmed in leather and roughly what was the cost?
Is the quality of stitching etc. of a good standard?

Thanks and best regards,
Noel

Hi Noel

Thanks for your reply, to answer some of your questions, the wheels (Cup 3's) had to be two sets of fronts in order to fit the wheel bays on the 924, i would love to get fatter rubber under the rear but without major modding this really can't be done, and yes the offset is 52,3 i can doulbe check that if you require as Porsche Shop surplyed and fitted for me.
The re-trimming on the seats was carried out by again the Porsche Shop, however they do sub-contract out as they themselfs didnt do the re-trim. They are trimed to a very high standard i must say, im very pleased with them, the cost was quite expensive really but i think worth it, £1200 or there abouts, this was for the two front seats and the complete rear, i also have the carpetted piece removed from the gearstick and re-trimmed in leather as well.

If you are attending this weekend (Front Runner) please come across and have a look, i will be more than happy to answer any questions you have.

Marc

Hello out there. I have owned my 1988 Black 924s Le Mans Limited Edition Porsche for six years. it has done 82,000 miles, and has a 2.5 Porsche engine. I feel privileged to own this car as only 980 Le Mans models were ever made, and only 37 white and 37 black ones were brought into the UK. It is black with Turquoise detailing and has the telephone dial wheels. Is has an electric removable sunroof.
I love my car and take great care of it. Everything is original and if anything has needed replacing, service wise, I always try to put original porsche parts back, even though it could be cheaper with other brands.
As so few were manufactured how many others in the club have one. Let us know.
Happy motoring. Chris.

Just a postscript for my last message, I have not received my window sticker yet. I have been a member of the club for six years.

you say you have been a member for 6 years. if so, then why does your profile say that you are a non member? perhaps thats why you havnt got a sticker yet.

I agree, but when I registered, I did put in my membership number which is on my profile, but it did not come up on the screen. I have exchanged many e-mails with Paul Hedges at the PCGB on other matters, so he does know of me. Where's my sticker, I want one!!!

Just because you're a member you don't automatically get on the register, nor will you get the sticker. You send a form and an SAE to Paul to get logged on his register (the register register ) and bingo, your sticker will find its way back to you.

Paul, are the forms downloadable from the clubs main website?

Welcome to the forum!

Both your registration and your name do not appear anywhere on my register database!!

If you send me an e-mail to 924@porscheclubgb.com I will e-mail a register form to rectify this.

Hello!!!!

I guess I'm kind of a new boy - recently got my second 924.  Foolishly sold my Silver auto about 2 years ago but recently bought an '84 Guards Red 2.0 Manual and am over the moon to have one again!!!!

Forgot how good they are to drive and didn't realise what a difference the manual transmission has on the driving experience.

this one is a lot more pleasent to drive long distances so I'm looking forward to seeing you all about...

See you soon

ORIGINAL: PaulHere

Let' s hear from all you 924 owners out there - new or established members

Say hello!

PaulHere - Probably sneakin' in under the wire a bit here, but I used to have one. Great little car. Would totally recommend it. Picked it up at a very reasonable price, although it did take me a good week, dawn to dusk, to get it clean. Short of a thorough service, it was mecanically sound however.

Presently driving a 911 3.2. SORRY!

R.

Well I've found my way in here - although my messages seem to have problems finding their way out - if only Microsoft could run like a 924
everybody would love Bill Gates.

I've had my custom goldy coloured one since  Jan 93.  As I mentioned in an article (PP Feb 04 p 75) which  I'm grateful to Paul for pointing out to me had got published,  I only intended to keep it for a short while but after a couple of weeks I suddenly understood it and I can't bear to get rid of it. Tell anyone who mentions an LT van engine that more powerful class winning race engines were built from that Audi block than in any 928 flagship road model.   I put other facts in that article too.   Belated thanks to Geoff Ivey who helped me.
The 924 separates the men from the boys (mostly TV journalists and Stephen Mummery) - all the men have had one.

I'd certainly get bored long term with the 993 I drove on a taster day (PP Jun 05 p40)  which I drove hard (I really had to try to be nice to it).

Roland Hitchcott

PS I'm collating list of roads, mainly B and C that are free of traffic with clear bends (moors) and great fun.  If anyone knows of a great bit of road let me know!
