Owners Roll Call !

How about a 924 day at Cornbury House? The ideal time would be during an open day on the first Sunday of a month as Club Shop would be open. Food can be organised if required and we have a route for a fun run of about 20 miles from, and back to CH.
Let me know.

Hello to everyone,

My name is Arthur and I now live in Athens, Greece having lived in Gloucestershire for about 20 years.

The 931 is my first Porsche, purchased in Germany in 2001, although I have loved Porsches all my life.

It's a great car, the performance is very good and I just love it!

Welcome Arthur, great to have you on board [:)]

Your car must be very well travelled - Germany, Greece...

I'll have to get you to send me a Register form, will be my first one from outside the UK! [:)]

Hi Guys,
My name is Phil and i'm looking for either a series 1 or series 2 931 as a winter/summer project, the cheaper the better please !

Although i do not own any Porsches at the moment, in the past i have owned a '82 924, '91 944 Turbo and an '86 911 Turbo, in fact i was the register secretary for the 911 Turbo Register a few years ago !

If anyone has or knows of a 931 for sale, please let me know.

Many thanks
Phil

Hello Phil, welcome to the forum [:)]

924 Turbos do appear for sale every once in a while, so I'll keep an eye out for you.

[:)]

Thanks for the welcome Paul [:)]

I have found a series 2 now and will be looking at it this weekend[:D]

hi, im neil. The 924 in question here is actually mums!, she brought it coz she was 'pretty', though ran like a severly disabled fish... and is full of previous owner bodges like twisted wires, cracked tappets, non working electrics, exhaust tied on with string(!) etc., etc., im still goin through them, the only problem remains is the fuel pump relay... not working... and though a 5 pin came out, there are only four wires there... though it is fun to drive when ive made it a little more drivable... im only 'borrowing' her whilst im rebuilding the mini lump, but like minis, 924s are addictive![8|][:D]

What on earth will happen to all this data!
I bought my 924S in 1995 and then went to Singapore until June this year and only used it for a couple of weeks each year. It's my first and only Porsche so far, but I'm thinking about buying a 968 instead (or as well!).
Very little work needed so far although I had the belts changed for peace of mind and changed the front discs as they were a bit skinny. Changed the front seats to electric ones as well, but only to help my wife find a sitting position that allowed her to see the road.
I was orginally looking for a 944, but I'm glad I chose the 924 instead as I have grown to prefer the purer lines.
The "not a real Porsche" thing has passed me by but I reckon the definitive answer is that if Porsche think its a Porsche, then its a Porsche just as much as the Cayenne anyway!

Hi there,

I have owned my black 1988 924s for just a few months now and I'm still really pleased. Apart from a full service and removing a few minor pings/dents (removed courtesy of the local dent man) it has cost very little extra. A new CD player and a carpet set finishes the interior.

I actually prefer the 924 shape - my budget allowed me to get either a 944 or 924 - but as the 1988 's' has the fully tuned 944 engine anyway I thought that seemed the best option. I only had to walk down the road to buy it as well!!

I completed a horrible drive to/from Manchester airport last night - the wind and rain was really bad - but the 924 cut straight through with no problem. Must be the first car I have had that seems to have electrics that behave when you are driving through 6 inches of rainwater for an hour!!

The only gripe I have is not knowing if intermittent wipe will work (it's like a lottery!!)

Hi All,
Finally got into the forum! My name is Terry Williamson I bought my 1984 924 in june 2001. I am the third owner and it has 117,000 miles on the clock. It is my first Porsche and my only car. I love it. I haven't been to a club event this year because I have been very busy marshalling for the BARC around the country. Next year I hope to do some club events. The 924 run to Cornbury House sounds good. I live in North East Hampshire, so anyone in the area wants to meet just shout.

Hello all

My name is Jonathan, my car is a modified 1980 Porsche 924 Turbo Series 1(I think). I bought it in June of 2000. This was my first Porsche after a life long admiration for the make.
It is a "˜hobby car' and as such now leads a very very pampered life. Records show I am the 13th owner(yikes!), and the vehicle has covered 82k miles. I have added fewer than 1000 miles since. I spend every spare penny on it, not because it needs it, but because I want too. I am on first name terms with my local OPC and subsequently help them reach their service turnover projections. I will never ever sell it.

Hello Terry, good to see you on the forum.

There will indeed be a 924 event in 2004 (probably at Cornbury House), It is in the planning stage at the moment but details will be published first here and in the 924 mailing list.

Hi My name is Duncan and I have just joined, I have owned my 924s since March 2000 this is my second Porsche, the first being a 914/4 2.0 of 1976 vintage that I imported from Arizona, I bought it for two reasons one it was owned by an Australian friend who was unable to take it back to Australia as they were not allowed left hand drive cars and two because it was almost 25 years old therefore no Road tax, unfortunately the government stopped that shortly after I returned. Where is the 914 forum by the way?

Hello Duncan - good to see you here - if you get time send me a Register form with details of your car, I would be happy to see you in the 924 Register [:)]

There isn't a 914 area just yet as it would need a moderator to keep an eye on posts. If you are interested in becoming moderator then contact Bruce Manning at:

914@porscheclubgb.com

Thanks [:)]
