I now have my 924 Le Mans back from the garage with correct graphics and interior.  Somebody was asking about the car, with a view to compiling a database.

It is a 1980 2.0 na Le Mans.
Reg No YLV 932W
Chassis WP0ZZZ92ZBN400632
Production date 9/8/1980
First registered 10/9/1980

You may have spotted it at Silverstone, beside the other 924s
Great day on Saturday

Hi,
New member on my Tenth Porsche so far!
- (1) 986 3.2 Boxster
- (1) 928 S2 4.7 V8
- (1) 968 3.0 Coupe
- (5) 944's 2.5 8V
- (2) 924S 2.5

My current and only car has been a 3+ year Project, originally a 1987 924S 2.5

And now something quite dramatic....and extensive so I 've made a dedicated website
To Illustrate and document the build and all the modifications...........

I stumbled across www.924srr27l.co.uk  some time ago when looking online for 924 material. The work and detail put into your 924 is fantastic and makes for a great read!

my 924 turbo is/was made to look like a Carrera  GT in 1995 at the time it cost £3373.00 !!! UNFORTUNATELY before i got it the car was stripped of its seats and door cards, wheels, bonnet scoop and rear spoiler.

thanks

Just like the 1st Porsche we had,  a 1981 Lux-just as attractive(or more so) today as it was when new !  Who needs these bloated sports cars we have today ?

Well our Stein Grau 924S had it's 1st major surgery last week when Unit 11 Porsche in Warrington replaced the original clutch for me at 108,000 miles-used the expensive Sachs kit which no longer has the "rubber doughnut" bonded to the clutch plate.
There was still some wear on the clutchplate but the pressure plate was starting to allow a little slip -I also gave them new crank sensors to fit at the same time for 2 reasons:-
To avoid delays on the job should they prove the usual pig to remove--in fact they both came out OK with cans like new although 1 Bosch plug cracked due to embrittlement
At that mileage seemed prudent anyway

Both sensors cost me £33 ea + VAT at GSF compared to £27ea +VAT 4 years ago when I replaced them on the red trackday S-still a big saving

I did consider doing it myself but hard work lying underneath the car on axle stands in a normal width garage-the wider end has the MGB GT in it!

Hi, just rejoined the Club after about 25 years! Bought my 924 last year (also had an 'S' and another Lux in the past), intending to keep this one. Totally standard, body restored. Only used on dry weekends...
Hope to meet some other members/924 owners over the summer.
Best regards,
Simon

Re: Owners Roll Call ! 2017/04/24 03:31:26 (permalink)
I own CGT 428

Hi I am looking for right and left brake cooling ducts, mine are missing.
Also right and left front seat believe they are the same as the 930 for this car.
Any of the brackets that support the front and rear arches.
Also the plastic/nylon insert that the fuel injector sits in.
Plus right and left door cards in black with Porsche logo.

Is there a definitive list of what colours and options the 75 right hand drive cars came with. Eg how many had sunroofs, how many black/red/silver, aircon etc.

Any help with the above would be much appreciated.

For Carrera GT cars then Ricky Caesar is THE go to person.
Funnily enough we were talking about cooling ducts this very weekend!
Give him a telephone call.

Hi, I have rejoined the Club after a few years absence. Imminent retirement is allowing me to at last concentrate on my cars which are:
924 2.0 1977MY in Mars red (with sunroof and most of the options)
924 2.0 1977MY in Mars red (without sunroof and lacking most of the options)
924S Le Mans 2.5 1988MY in Black
In addition, my son and I jointly own:
924 2.0 1976MY in Viper Green metallic (LHD base model with no options) - shell resprayed but now needs building back up again.
He also owns:
924 2.0 1982MY in light metallic blue
924S Le Mans 2.5 1988MY in White
I've owned many other 924s over the last fifteen years some of which I regret selling, including 2 (or 3, I can't now recall) Martinis, a 1980 2.0 Le Mans, a 1981 2.0 Weissach (converted to RHD), and three Turbos (2 Series 1 and a Series 2).
The second of the 1977MY cars is due to go to Auto-graph Specialist Cars in Wakefield in the next few days for the work required on its bodywork and some mechanical work after which the S Le Mans will be headed there for final jobs to be done on its bodywork and the odd niggling electrical issue.

Welcome back to the Club
Whoa! I look forward to the photo of all the cars together, although I think you will need a drone to get them all in!
Please do post all your questions, thoughts, triumps and trumps on the forum.
