Hi has anyone out there successfully updated there maps over the air? all my other connect services work, but over the air updates have never worked.

I have had the dealer update the PCM to the latest version, which now means google earth works again, but still no map updates.

Dealer saying problem with Porsche servers in Germany. Porsche Connect saying dont know will raise a ticket...

Im tempted just to pay 120 euro for a guy to update the maps for me remotely to 2021!

thanks

I tried a few weeks ago and got the Porsche equivalent of the Spinning Beachball of Death, updating for hours but never completing.

Your post reminds me to try again, rather than wait for the next time I use the car.

I don't know if similar issue but my daily driver (Non Porsche) has over the air map updates, which also don't work! On investigation it turns out that the system isn't available in the UK? (Go figure). Downloading updates from web portal to USB stick however works just fine.

They should work in the Porsche over the air, it’s part of the connect services you have to subscribe to, including traffic, news, google search etc.

the issue is it doesn’t work. Porsche Germany have acknowledged the issue and say they are working on a fix, apparently they have been for about 9 months!!
I found a guy who can update the maps to 2021 version remotely for me. Worked really well and only cost 120 euro.
i have no confidence that the over the air updates will ever be fixed by Porsche! If you read on the USA forums they are all in the same position

let me know if anyone wants the guys details

I have raised the issue perhaps duplicating others' contacts with Porsche Connect. If it is not available I'd like a refund. Anyway after 5 days they have come back to me with "can I send screen shots" so I sent these of how it looks on my PCM.

First screen does not offer much comfort..

Next one suggests I confirm my low expectations

Then confirmation..

Is this what others see?

You are getting further than I get. Mine just searches for ever when you click on the online updates. I never get to see the updates maps being aviator download.

don’t get your hopes up as I have sent so many screen shots to Porsche, but do keep us updated as you may het a resolution.

I got my maps manually updated to 2021 europe Off line as I could wait any longer…

I had the never ending download of nothing before also. I'll post on Porsche's progress. I did get a fix to Track Precision after chasing them so maybe I'll be lucky again.

Did you request a refund?

latest update, apparently Porsche Germany know its an issue but have no resolution date! I got my maps updates to 2021 version for 120euro offline by a guy who does it for loads of people in the USA. He was really good and it was all done in less than an hour.

im glad I have the latest maps now!

I use Google Maps via Car Play. Works well since displays on the screen. It's always up to date. It also includes Traffic updates and speed limits which are very useful.
Not sure I'd bother any more with the inbuilt one since can;t update automatically. Does seem poor that Porsche can'd do something simple like this on an expensive car

I agree with Spackers, above, I have given up on the PCM Nav System with its subscription requirement. Google Maps or Waze offer better alternatives at no cost.

Just in from Porsche UK:

Thank you for contacting Porsche.

I have been investigating your issues concerning the online map updates feature on your vehicle. I have found that this is now a larger issue affecting multiple customers and is currently being investigated with a high priority.

There is not a current ETA on when this issue will be rectified, due to this we would still like to make sure that you can update your maps to the most current version. If you would like to update your maps you will need to visit your Porsche Centre to have this installed. If there are any costs to this, please let me know and I will look to reimburse this.

Please may you advise me of your local/preferred Porsche Centre and I will contact them to discuss this and ask them to contact you to arrange a booking.

I appreciate the frustration this may cause but this will be rectified as soon as possible.

got an email today regarding the issue I had logged with porsche:
I hope you’re well.

I have received a response from Porsche AG in relation to the incident that they have been working to resolve. The Technical Department have advised that they have found a resolve for the issue and the vehicle will now need to visit a Porsche Centre for the lifetime activation of the software update to be completed through the required plug in tool.

I am taking mine in on the 18th for the local Centre to do the map upgrade using some "tool” they have to order from Germany.

I’ll ask whether they think it is a permanent fix. In any event I’ll try the over air update after the Centre update to see if it has made any difference.

Looking at the first of your screenshots further back in the thread, have you tried selecting that top line which says "0 of 60" you should then get a list of all the region updates available but you will only be able to select 3 regions?

I’m sure that’s what I did. Appointment with Porsche Centre put back to early December.
But in the sequence of screen shots it looks like you selected 0MB then tried too start the download. If you had selected up to 3 regions the amount of data would have shown where it shows 0MB, depending on which regions you selected it would have been anywhere from 200MB to 1.5GB.

Just to respond again, I went through the same routine and whether I select 1, 2 or 3 regions the result is the same, no update.

Ok, sorry it's not working for you, hopefully the OPC can fix the problem but as you are having to wait until next month have you tried calling or emailing Porsche Smart Mobility Support as they are responsible for the updates, maybe worth a try, nothing to lose.

"Next month" is "next week" so not worth opening up discussions with another part of the Porsche Empire

Today was to be the day, but whilst they had all the DVDs, the code they had from Germany was not the correct code. We next visit in January for service when they will attempt again to update the maps.
