OPC warranty extension without 111 c

There is a post on Facebook that states from 1st October it is no longer necessary to have a 111 point check to extend an OPC warranty if the car is in warranty and has a full OPC service history. Does anyone have any experience to know if that is correct?

As far as I know yes.
If the car currently has OPC warranty and service history.
I was offered just a "renewal" though went elsewhere for warranty.

yes true - just had mine done - waived by porsche GB due to covid service dept backlog - just ask the OPC and they should waive the fee.

I had to pay for mine even after paying for the 6 year time requirements (My choice to have them done as I had only covered 18,000 miles.)

yep can confirm this as I spoke the the service team at Silverstone last week.Strangely you will need to prove your opc service history ie stamped service book or paper work as proof plus the v5 with the car in your name, surely they could look it up on their system but apparently not but talk to your opc as they may have a different version.

This is defo the case as long as the service history is complete and the warranty doesn’t lapse. I was told this by OPC Hatfield this week.

I received my letter today and that's correct about not now needing the 111 point check. Interestingly they are also offering a 3 year warranty extension rather than the usual 1 or 2.

All very interesting our Boxter GTS has basically sat on the drive for a year just a run up the road and back every 2 or 3 weeks.
Warranty has been a waste of money the last year has anyone got a deal on there next warranty because the year it's been?

In my experience failure can be time or mileage dependent, so I would not say it has been useless. Lack of use for some components can result in increased failure rates.
i extended just before the lockdown and am glad that I have the cover.

I called my OPC today to renew. Oddly they said I had to go to the OPC in person to sign the paperwork, although I had completed a DocuSign form to allow them to send me marketing info a few hours earlier. Has anyone else had to physically sign something on renewal in the past few months? My car has been under warranty and OPC maintained for 8 years and they don't need to see or inspect the car.

I extended mine just as lockdown kicked in and was able to do it by scanning and emailing the document. It was before the 111 point check was paused/done away with (I am not sure whether it is just a lockdown change), but as the car was under a year old I did not need the check. This was with Tewkesbury. I suppose things may have changed since then - it seems such a long time ago!

I think this is a single dealer issue - they delivered my car home to me and brought the paperwork with them - I signed it in my own driveway and they took it back with them. If they know you I presume that a signature is all thats required (anywhere will be fine). If they don't know you then they may ask for more ID etc. due to regs.

I spoke to the service advisor at Porsche Silverstone yesterday when collecting my car, which was in for servicing, and asked about warranty renewal. He said it could all be done remotely by sending a scan of the V5, a photo of the service book and a photo of the dash to show the mileage. No mention of having to attend the centre to sign anything.
