Hi Jon and all
thank you for volnteering to be the ~Taycan Registrar
I am a long standing but normally very quiet PCGB member (read but dont often post ) however I thought i would share a few ~Taycan thoughts
looking forward to my new Taycan Turbo, should have been built last week aparrently due to me end june, (but Ive not had this confirmed yet)
in the best colour Volcano grey! - of course we all think our cars are the best colour, im hoping it will be innoculous enough to avoid roving speed camera operators, but blue leds may undo this thinking
its a logical progression from my 928's ??
just look at the similarities
aluminium doors wings and bonnet , tick both 928 and taycan
fiendishly complex electronics ( age appropriate) tick ,. both Taycan and 928
mechanical gearbox on rear axle 928 SE is manual and Taycan has two speed rear axle , tick both
4 seats tick both, rear limited room in both
class leading headlights ( age appropriate ) tick both
aluminium suspension, front and rear, tick both
rear axle steering , 928 weissach axle passive rear , Taycan active rear
folding rear seats , tick both
curved instrument display moves with steering wheel, tick both
top speed approx 160mph , tick both
Abs brakes, tick both, but the taycan has a whole suite of added ( stop you falling off the road electronic gizmos)
so both very similar give or take 30 years
significamt differences
great V8 engine and soundtrack
Phenomenal electric motor power, performance and acceleration , porsche sound electric warble
acceleration, hmm.. taycan nearly twice as quick as 928 to 60mph ???? 5.3 vs 3 secs
weight 928 1580 kgs, ~Taycan 2380kgs so Taycan 50% heavier but Taycan has 4 wheel drive
928, can be filled in 5 minutes at 10,000's of locations in the UK, Taycan can be "filled " in 20 minutes at 4 ( i think ) 800v charging stations in UK
fuel cost :-
928 24 MPG, or 24 miles for ÂŁ6, so 25p per mile
Taycan 83kw chargable capacity for 240 miles ( i dont have mine yet so assumed range ) if your electrics at home at 13p/kwh, will cost ÂŁ11 per "fill" so 4.45p per mile .. but i have solar panels , so free on a sunny day??
928's Diy able , nowhere to plug a computer in ( ok there is a limied diagnostic socket on later models)Taycan need to plug a computer in, not many opportunities for DIY maintenance
Im sure i will greatly enjoy the Taycan, but have owned my auto 928 for 23 years ( longest ive owned any car !) and SE for 5,,,, which will be "best"
of course! the 928 it has a hatchback, must be the winning feature ??????
