Why is buying a 944 so hard?

ORIGINAL: GlennS

Why is it difficult? Because the 944 is in a transitional state at the moment. Some are regarded by their owners as cheap sports-cars which they intend to run into the ground or run for a year or two with minimal maintenance and expenditure to scratch the Porsche itch and then sell on. Others are owned by people who think of them as emerging classics and who are prepared to throw far more than they're "worth" at maintaining and running them. Currently the former outnumber the latter and people who love the cars don't sell them often. Most of what you will find on the market are "junkers".

This is so true.

Sandspider really am but so impatient lol
Cheers Darryl im glad i've heard that as did phone up about it but they were so vague i never pushed anymore on it as they sounded very quite and avoided any questions I asked. Hi Will, they said that to me and my dad on separate occasions about people going to see it. They were your stereotypical dealers. They had a few nice cars there but the 944 is one I'd stay well clear of! :)

Typical wheeler dealer then trying to force a sale through, makes you angry! if you search there company and review they have some good reviews and some terrible ones for their after sales which put me off aswell.
Fair enough 928? 911? I'm intrigued now!

Will

I have often said this, but have never said it so well and concisely as Glenn did here.

See you in the Boxster section then Ed?

Alan.

..I've been rumbled...[:D]

more in a couple of weeks when I've actually got it.

I'm only a few miles from Maidenhead Edd so if you need a lift from station or anything when you pick it let me know

Thanks Steve. I think chauffeur services are part of the deal already [:D] I just need to firm up another work date in london and organise collection for that evening.

The car is coming from a forum member and 944 owner - always the nicest way to buy I think.

there wasn't an ad ( if you discount my "I'm looking for a boxster" post on this forum :)

That's how hard it is to buy a boxster [;)]

anyway, enough about my car, Will needs to get on and buy that red 2.7.

Though you buying a boxster is more interesting than me buying nothing and moaning!
Phoned up about another car yesterday but the guy had someone coming to view it this morning which meant it subsequently sold. Tried and left another answer phone message about the red 2.7 as he still didnt answer his phone :( and phoned up about another red 2.7 which again the guy didnt answer his phone, no one seems to want to talk to me or potentially take my money :(

Possibly seeing the nice red 2.7 tomorrow :D
the guy has got someone seeing it tomorrow at 11 though I will be passing his place at about 12 on my way to watch the football so he's going to give me a call on route to let me know whether its sold or if I can go and have a look.

The one I saw today was a bargain! Lovely couple and picked it up for a grand in the end! Few bits to get it on the road but I'm all up for getting dirty and getting it back to its former glory! [:D]
