I heard that the 924-944-968 area was the hotel car park? They havent learnt, have they? It was this sort of short-sighted arrogance which caused the 924-944 enthusiasts club to form (now TIPEC).
If the boards attitude was better, then the majority of those TIPEC members would be PCGB members. Of course, we wouldnt see the benefit of the subs.....
I realise that Im a guest on this forum, but remember that I was a member for years which certainly qualifies me to share my opinion.

Hi Simon,
You're wrong in so many way here it's hard to know where to start.....[

It's a hotel. So, any fool can see that the tarmac bits around the venue tend to be parking areas. It's hardly surprising that people staying overnight parked in the car parks, and some went off for the day leaving their cars in the wrong place. Thoughtless, and in some cases, where they were asked to move and refused, selfish, but let's face it it's a weekend away and the Porsche owner who brought his family in the family car is entitled to be there. The only way to clear the car parks was overnight "security" making people walk miles to unload their suitcases, or a tow-truck on the day. I like to think that the 944 owners are relaxed enough to enjoy a day out ven if there's a Passat in the middle of the display. [&:]
Regarding Tipec, If you speak to the senior people there I think you'll find they would rather not have 15000 PCGB members join them. They would have to expand rapidly, bring in full-time staff and premises with massive overheads, and they'd then have exactly the same problems we have as a huge business.
I know there are always small groups of 944 owners trying to set up independant "free" clubs based around forums. That's why I spend so much time fighting for this, the largest 944 forum in the UK, to be open to all. I don't want us to fragment, we need to be a large group of owners in order to keep parts supply, manufacturer support etc. going. If people want to dilute the few committed owners like you and me, we will be in real trouble in the future.
Most worrying is you accusation that we were somehow shoved out in to an area away from the main display? In fact, we were going to be in the general car park, but it was the comments on this forum that made the organisers look for an area we could have for ourselves. You weren't there, but I am happy to inform you that there were very limited options for a dedicated area, and we had the best one. We also had the 924, 928 and 968 cars with us. Personally, I'd prefer one big Porsche car park, but the people who pay their membership asked for a seperate display and they got a very good one.
Again, if you'd been there, you'd have seen how many of the directors were signing the 944 anniversary bonnet, as nearly all of them are either current or previous owners of 944s. When the chairman is dissapointed that his car wasn't ready for our display you might understand how the Club actually respect the front-engined cars as much as the cash-cow modern cars. [
