Quick question, I hope there might be a quick answer! Are there any wheel refurbishment establishments in our area (Glous / Bristol) which any member has used and can recommend please? Thanks Mark

I have used TPCS at Seend just outside Devizes

Very good results

Nick, Derek,

Thanks for the prompt responses. Both businesses look promising so I'll call them up and have a chat.

I did a bit of research on this - as you do - and used Chris who runs Exel Wheels.

http://www.exelwheels.co.uk/default.html

He comes to you, fits a set of wheels to your car and takes yours away for refurbishment. He uses, Lepsons in Kent to refurbish the wheels - or did a year ago and I suspect still does. Lepsons have a great reputation and it is in Chris' interest to make sure they do the best job for you as he is acting as middleman. Lepsons web address is: http://www.lepsons.com

I had my 997 classic 19" wheels stripped, one straightened and refurbed. and they look beautiful - and still do after over a year. It will cost a bit more than taking them to be refurbed yourself but doing it this way you keep your car on the road and it is massively convenient.

I am considering getting him to do my VW 18" Monzas on my Golf.

He is also a delight to deal with and a real enthusiast - highly recommended not just by me but others on this forum - just search for Exel and you will come up with a raft of recommendations.

Any feedback from your calls? I'm interested in having mine done & have had a quote from Chris at Excel. He gets excellent feedback but I don't need to have the loan wheels really so wondering if I'm paying for something I'm not going to get the benefit from as it is a premium price (albeit not a like for like service). I've heard that Platinum Wheels in Swindon are good too...

Hi Guys

There is hidden benefit of using Exel wheels and that is he does a quality control job for you - for me it was worth paying the extra to someone who is more OCD than me.

If you don't want the loan wheels do take a look at Lepsons website (my post above), don't disregard them as they are in Kent, they are offering a free courier service for four wheels. I have nothing to do with this company, other than they refurbed my 997 wheels through Exel, and am delighted. I did quite extensive research on loads of forums and reckon this is one of two refurb companies in UK I would deal with - the other one is in Woburn Sands but have no experience of them.

I live in Cirencester and found no one locally that I would take mine to but I am fussy! I had one of my VW Monza diamond cuts done locally and the finish failed within 12 months - not impressed. Having seen the free courier deal I am on the edge of putting my Golf on bricks and sending the wheels off!

I just had mine done at SWWR in Exeter today. He had the car, removed the wheels and after refurb, put on new tyres for me.He has done a fantastic job and I can wholeheartedly recommend him, 100 per cent.
The wheels look better than new.
